Dear Lybrate user
Yes therapy has provided great results in any kind of addiction. Addiction is psychological and thus psychotherapy is supposed to be taken. I have had many clients who have got rid off their addiction. As there are some causes for any addiction and until and unless those causes are not resolved the addiction will not go away. Thats the reason many people get addicted again after they come back from deaddiction centers.
You can contact me for more information.

1) Nicotine replacement therapy. Nicotine gum, patches, inhalers, sprays, and lozenges are nicotine replacement therapies. They work by giving you nicotine without the use of tobacco. You may be more likely to quit with nicotine replacement therapy, but it works best when combined with behavioral therapy and lots of support from friends and family. And remember that the goal is to end your addiction to nicotine, not simply to quit using tobacco

Use of smokeless tobacco is rising. In several trials, nicotine replacement and bupropion have been ineffective for treatment of patients who use smokeless tobacco. Varenicline (Chantix), a partial agonist of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor, is effective in helping smokers to quit

Hi lybrate-user. I understand your worry about the possibility of this side effect. But antidepressants cause erectile dysfunction will be very gross and generalised statement. Though sertraline, the drug you r taking, has a risk of sexual dysfunction in some patients, it is not as common as you think and you need not worry about it as if it happens, it is not irreversible. Treatment can be supplemented with drugs like bupropion which will reverse sexual dysfunction or even on changing sertralin...more

Hi, I can understand that there is a dilemma between getting adequate response from medication and getting relief from sexual adverse effects. I believe you have already discussed this issue with your psychiatrist and buspirone might have been added for this reason. If you want to stay on paroxetine, then other potential options are either decreasing dose of paroxetine (provided your depressive symptoms are under control) or adding a different medication such as bupropion or mirtazapine etc. Ins...more

If you are an occasional smoker - with public messages, health awareness programs and your own doctors advice, you can quit. If you are a regular smoker, motivational therapy with a trained psychotherapist or a psychiatrist and enormous will power will help you quit. If you are a diseased smoker, consult a de addiction psychiatrist at the earliest. He may give you anti-addiction medications and de addiction treatment. Medicines like bupropion and verinicline also help in treating addiction of sm...more

Dear , since you are overweight for your height. I suggest you try different antidepressant instead. Paroxetine is linked to weight gain and dry mouth.
I suggest you ask your psychiatrist if he can give you other antidepressants that actually help reduce weight such as bupropion, fluoxetine etc.
I wish you all the best.
