If he is not loosing weight then perhaps nothing wrong. Just wait and watch. Give him home food, may give some probiotic. If loosing weight proper clinical examination is necessary

Once you start a medicine you must give enough time to it to work you can take paracetamol 500 3 or 4 times a day for pain do lot of salt water gargles. Avoid spicy fried chilled food. Take some rest. No antibiotic is better than other.. No medicine is without side effects but get they are minimal and selflimiting.
