The medicines you are taking like zolpidem and lorazepam are not indicated as the primary treatment of insomnia in the context of bipolar disorder. You need to restart the course from your treating psychiatrist and take the medicines as advised. The doctor, once he feels that your symptoms are well under control, will slowly taper the medicines as stop. Please don't self medicate, since insomnia in bipolar disorder can sometimes go either way, up (hypo/mania), or down (depression) and it will ne...more

From the limited information you shared, ot seems that you have been suffering from depression. It needs detailed evaluation and further treatment. Please bear in mind, depression is not a sign of mental weakness, rather a disease of the brain. So don't delay and seek treatment as soon as possible.

Dear lybrate-user, yes it will be because by now your brain is accustomed to this drug, by the way who prescibed this drug to you was it a psychiatrist or did you self medicate, another thing you have not mentioned the dose of zolpidem that you are taking so that if high it might be tapered down to suit your exam needs. Therefore you must consult a psychiatrist at the earliest. Yours sincerely.

Dear lybrate-user,
please see the diagnosis in your case. Discuss with your psychiatrist about it. You can also discuss your rotational shift duties. For ocd zocalm and modafinil are not main drugs. Try and sleep without zocalm and work without modafinil. Having said these, both modafinil and zocalm don't damage brain, if taken in prescribed dose. Whether you need it or not, is the question.
