After however I completed my exams using tablets *sulpitac *clonazem then psychiatrist changed my course with tablets *schidon plus hcl then slowly my brain functioning decreased day by day and due to this tablets I used to sleep for many hours .then one day I forgot to take tablets and my mind fully changed that it stopped working like my thoughts ,imagination, interest, talking inside heart all feelings also stopped. Again I started swallowing tablets but no change appeared. Upto to now it is 10 months that my brain stopped functioning. I tried many tablets like *stalopam, ampicon *daxid ,amsyc *and many more tablets for depression ,psychosis etc now I am taking tablets like risperidone, trihexyphenidyl hcl .because the doctor informed me that this is psychosis. My symptoms are like *lack of thoughts ,imagination ,interest or pleasure in activities, no proper sleep,*i am roaming at small place 24 hrs *there are no feelings at all for me *there are no problems like fever, cough, malaria or cold from 10 months or during this disorder. *this is winter but i'm not getting cold and no feeling. *hair became rough and when apply oil its soaking inside fastly. *my growth also stopped. *disorders in masticating food and vomiting, headache. *i am not to judge good or bad *i'm taking less food now than before *i'm not able to study ,understand ,focus, concentrate so I have quit this year for college. There is no feeling at all.*i'm getting thoughts of suicide and also quit this life. Doctors are telling this is psychosis ,i'm telling that my brain has stopped working, you are saying this depression. I want to take ect treatment once to stimulate my brain. I tried many tablets but no response .now i'm even getting thoughts of suicide and even I attempt to make suicide .please say that if ect works or not for my problems ,no one understanding my brain problem .even doctors also. I say this brain damage is due to lack of sleep at nights. Now what I should do? Doctors say this is psychosis but i'm not getting hallucinations and delusions and also i'm aware of my behaviour my outside behavior is good but inside its like a mix of jaundice ,malaria ,typhoid ,etc. I even tried tablets for depression for so many months but no response to this tablets. Dear Yubaraj,
Your wife may be having psychotic symptoms also along with depression. Amitriptyline and clonazepam have side effect of sedation. However she is taking rest and getting up for food and toilet. She would have got used to these drugs in 2 days. Now you can give risperidone also. Risperidone does not come as 5. Maybe it is 0.5.
However discuss with your doctor about drowsiness without stopping the drug. You should weigh whether drowsiness is worse or her symptoms are worse.

It is not advisable to take clozapine only for Sleep. There are several other alternatives to use to improve sleep especially if you find risperidone is helping to improve your condition and there are no major side effects. If so Please stay on risperidone and ask your Psychiatrist to add sleeping tablet.

Dear thanks for asking your querry here. You concern is genuine. For psychosis the dose of risperidone is less. But the dose of fludac for ocd is ok. I am not aware about current psychotic symptoms of your brother. If still he has delusion or hallucoinations, you may ask for a review by his psychiatrist who may consider increasing the dose of risperidone.

Hello,
Every antipsychotic medication is equally efficacious. If there is partial response then medication dose need to be increased and if there is no response than drug is supposed to be changed. Important part being dose given at a range which is effective. Do not switch to other drug until given at required effective dosage and for required period of time.
At 57 years usually the dosage is kept low and gradually increased to monitor side effects.
It is advisable to have healthy m...more

Lybrate-user: People suffering from schizophrenia should take their medications daily. Occasional use can lead to emergence of symptoms. Clozapine especially is a medication that should only be taken under supervision of a physician with very regular blood work to make sure WBC count (cells that fight infection) are not getting too low.

Do not listen to what few people who do not know about psychiatric medications tell. Discuss your concerns with your treating psychiatrist, if not convinced, get a 2nd opinion. All the best.

Dear Atul,
Nice to know that you are maintained well with 1 mg Risperidone. Pacitane is necessary, only if you have shaking of fingers, stiffness of body and too much saliva in mouth. Otherwise it is not necessary for the treatment of schizophrenia.
