How you feel after taking medicine. If you r ok, then continue the same. If not then add another medicine like escitalopram, fluoxetine, buspirone. Along with medicine if you start cognitive behavior therapy in your management program then it will increase prognosis

Ziprasidone does not have significant effects of blood sugar and your mother can take the medication if it is has been prescribed by the psychiatrist. I believe that you mother's depression and schizophrenia will benefit, however you will need to have her be evaluated by the prescribing psychiatrist to make sure that she is having these medications correctly since it is good practice to follow up after taking a new medication. We would certainly help if you reach out.
Look forward to hearing...more

If you are symptom free it is because of effect of medicines, chances of relapse are higher after drug discontinuation.

Need psychiatrist help. My wife aged 40 years is under constant psychiatrist treatment since 1999. She was initially treated with syp risperidone, then by ziprasidone. After about four to five years the disease relapsed and then managed with inj fluanxol depot + qutipin. Then again in 2012 the disease got aggravated and after about one year of suffering she was finally treated with tab asenapine 10 mg and tab nexito 10 mg and tab clo 0.5 mg. The medicine is continue since then and my wife is almost asymptomatic. I am now not available with my wife due to my defence background and my wife is at a totally new place gandhinagar. The treating doctor is at patna. The problem now I am facing is that tab asenapine sold by only company sun pharma is not available in the market. The treating doctor does not attend telephonic queries and my wife is not in a state to visit the psychiatrist for next four to five months. Is the medicine available in india with any other brand or can any one suggest any other substitute for the same.

I would suggest checking online for alternative brands before shifting her to another medicine - because she has been doing well on asenapine. Any change of medicine (not brand), is likely to cause some disturbance and hence should be your second option. Asenapt is the only brand I could find - do not order for alkepin - it is not asenapine.
If you are not able to find alternatives brand, I could help you further with alternative medicine.

It may not be carbegoline induced. Psychosis can relapse after few months, if medications are stopped. She needs to be treated again with antipsychotics and if carbegoline is essential, continued along with it. Good luck

Sexual dysfunction is a common condition in patients taking antipsychotics, and is the most bothersome symptom and adverse drug effect, resulting in a negative effect on treatment compliance. It is known that hyperprolactinemia is a major cause of sexual dysfunction. Based on the blockade of dopamine d2 receptors, haloperidol, risperidone, and amisulpride are classed as prolactin-elevating antipsychotics, while olanzapine, clozapine, quetiapine, ziprasidone, and aripiprazole are classed as prola...more
