Developed signs of early morning wakening with a feeling of heavy heart in 2014. Ignored for a year or so. Then the problem started worsening with more heavy heart with loud pounding beats very early in the morning. Then I failed depressed or sad/ worried during day time also at times. Consulted a psychiatrist in 4/2014 who prescribed cipralex. After 4 months he added lamitor 100. Felt some improvement gor 3/4 months and stopped cipralex of my own. The state of depression recurred back and went on to lamitor 200 but no improvement. In november 2017 consulted another psychiatrist who changed the medicine and prescribed paroxetine12. 5, divalproex 250 and mirtazapine15. Felt improvement after few days. Stopped divalproex after 3 months. Then tapered paroxetine and finally stopped in april 2018. I was feeling good now. But unfortunately the condition hit back in early august this year. Now I have started paroxetine 12.5 with clonazepam .5 and continued mirtazapine15. Though I have again felt some relief but I always wake up with heavy heart and worried. During day time also I get sad or anxious at times. please suggest. Further I have elevated Triglyceride level about 500 which I heard is due to mirtazapine. Is there any alternative for that. I am also hypertensive taking amlodipine5 from last 6 years.

Hello. BZDs (clonazepam) is an emergency measure to control anxiety aka panic attack. You should consult a mental health professional/ psychiatrist for management of panic disorder which includes SSRIs (medicines) and psychotherapy including relaxation exercises. Thanks.

Dear lybrate-user
Thank you for connecting on this platform. Clonazepam is an SOS medicine after stability of transitory high intensity symptoms. And no, withdrawal does not cause death. My statement of No would act as temporary reassurance to you because Health anxiety is basically catastrophizing the least probable as most probable situation which requires mild medicine dosage but effective psychotherapy sessions. I hope you doing that, if not please get in touch with us and would be glad ...more

It is not good continue medicine. It leads side effects. Better to come out from medicine. For depression psychological counselling will helps very much. I think you never attend for counselling. Strong counselling sessions are required. Use the medicine whenever you feel normal then leave it. It is best as soon as possible you should come out from the medicine. Years together you use your mind addicted to medicine. Suppose in future you cannot sleep properly without medicine. It is always bette...more

Dear lybrate-user,
I don't know about terbest. But with clonazepam, alcohol has additive effect. Better to avoid alcohol. The effects depend on the dose of clonazepam, the alcohol type, amount, time taken to drink, food, whether you have driving help, etc.
Since clonazepam is an anxiolytic, this is the time to stop smoking. You are just 20 years, better not to become dependent on smoking. It is difficult to quit later on.
