Kindly check if you were prescribed 2% instead of 20%. The stronger the strength the better it will work. So if you were prescribed 20 %, in that case the effect will be less with 5%.
As for whether it will work, it depends what the purpose is.

Unless you are using it with a condom or using condoms with pre-applied benzocaine inside them, it is not advisable as it will also come in contact with your partner and decrease their sensation and pleasure. For more effective, drug-free ways to improve your sexual experience, you can take up an online consult with me.

Hello-
Don't use Xylocaine as it will make the genitals numb and your partner will not be able to enjoy sex. It is best to use any water based lube instead. It will be safe and easy and will minimise pain too.

Oh my! Ms. or miss lybrate-user, I would suggest you to change your Gyanec for a second opinion to rule out any problems like infections Etc in your vagina first then if it’s all ok you should stop worrying too much. Sex is a natural act and it will keep on hurting or you will despice it only if you are one of those asexuals! For more details do consult me online.

Lidocaine gel can be applied without dilution to reduce pain but if pain persists and there is discharge, seek a physical visit to rule out infection.
