I was having leg/feet tiredness and hotness, joint pain on my left hand, internal heat in my left chest, waist and back pain, I went to the pharmacist to complain and I was given diclofenac, calcium and one other pain reliever but after finishing the tablets there was no improvement, I later decided to visit the hospital where I was advised to run mp widal test as they suspected malaria/typhoid symptoms, I ran the test and it revealed that I have few malaria and high typhoid then, I was given typhoid and antimalarial tablets which I took for five days, after taking the medication, I discovered there was no improvement, I went back to the hospital and I was asked to rerun the test again which I did and it revealed that I have no malaria but still have typhoid but not as high as the former, then I was given ceftriaxone injection which I took for 4 days and paracetamol, metronidazole tablet and blood capsule which I took for 5 days. The injection finished on sunday and drugs finished yesterday but I have not still see a significant improvement in my body even after the treatment. Pls doctor advise me on what to do next because am fed up. Thank you as I anticipate your kind assistance.

Going by the reports, you need to treat both simultaneously and avoid coitus till future samples from both of you show no growth on culture. Treatment from your physician with a drug from the most sensitive to antibiotic group for sufficient duration is mandatory.

Hi! my grandmother is 79 years old. She suffered right frontal intracerebral hematoma on 02/02/2021 at 11 pm. She was discharged from the hospital on 08/02/2021 in haemodynamically stable condition. She was on the following medications during her stay at the hospital: inj ceftriaxone, inj mannitol, inj levipil, inj pan, inj zofer, inj paracetamol, tab stamlo, tab levipil, tab pan, tab calcium, years duphalac. She has a ryle's tube and foley catheter in-situ. She was discharged with the following medication to follow: tab stamlo, tab levipil 2 times. Tab pan, years duphalac, years orofer, tab calcium and years multivitamin. Her recovery is what is making us worry. She can talk in slurred speech and very very low volume for 4-5 times a day with great trying. She cannot keep her eyes open for more than 3-4 seconds at a time, that too only 9-10 times a day upon great trying. She mostly answers by nodding her head and cannot sit upright for very long. She has some movement in her left leg and very less to negligible movement in left arm. My question is about how much time will the clot take to dissolve in the brain? How much time can it take for her to at least eat with her mouth? Why is she so tired all the time? I think the doctor has only given some basic medication, and not clot busting medication. What should be the next course of action?

Hello lybrate-user,
your mother has had intracerebral hemorrhage and due to leakge of blood fro small artery in the brain. It does not require a clot buster. The prognosis and further management of patient depends upon the location and size of the blood hemorrhage (0-30 ml good prognosis, 30-60 moderate, more than 60 ml poor prognosis. The dissolving of the blood takes time but the injury which it has caused to the neurons is the one which has to improve for her recovery. Her recovery will b...more

The typhoid is only easy to cure with an antibiotic course of 14 days and you do not need many treatments as you said. You can also take ceftriaxone injection which is the standard treatment.

There are different antibiotics prescribed for treating different types of sexually transmitted diseases (stds). Antibiotics prescribed by health experts include cefixime (suprax), ceftriaxone, ciprofloxacin and ofloxacin. Cefixime, ciprofloxacin and ofloxacin are given orally, while ceftriaxone is administered intramuscularly. It is advised not to take any medicine without your doctor's consultation.

Hi
Troxone is an antibiotic called CEFTRIAXONE. This can be given in diabetics and hypertensives under the guidance of a doctor as we will have to look into other medications that the patient is taking and see if there is any interactions. Especially blood thinners.
