My grand child aged 2 years, was having slight suffocation in breathing after recovered from viral fever. For the control of fever he was given amoxicillin +Clavulanic acid dry syrup. Slight suffocation at times (kurukal in malayalam language )observed after the recovery of fever which persisted for about a month. Then again consulted with the same Doctor and prescribed, levocetirizine Hydrochloride syrup, Ambroxol Hydrochloride and salbutamol Syrup, Prednisolone Sodium Phosphate solution (5 mg/5 ml 2 times, Montelukast 4 mg tablet etc. I would like to know whether Prednisolone Sodium Phosphate solution (5 mg/5 ml 2 times) is required for this slight difficulty (kurukal) in breathing. I would also like to know, whether this steroid drug will affect the growth of the child or precipitate any hidden diabetic issue. Kindly answer to doubt.

My mother is suffering from chronic diabetes since 2011 but her platelet count has decreased rapidly since last 10 days. Last week it 48000 after which she started taking daphson tablet and yet this week as of saturday it decreased to 26000 after which manual platelet testing was done in which the count was 22000. This was yesterday and yesterday only one unit of platelet was given to her. Currently she is taking wysolone 30 mg but that's increases her sugar levels since she also has diabetes. The doctor that is handling her case has plans to give some medication and increase the count but that will be time taking. There is only one blood bank in town where the matched blood was not easily available either plus the situation is pretty grim due to the cavity 19 situation. My question here is should we be referred to some other place immediately such as kolkata or patna. If so is travelling advisable in her condition or should we wait 7 days to see if the count increases through meds.

Firstly why we use dapsone tablet bcz that’s a antileprosy drug!
and secondly there is no chronic form available in diabetes
and thirdly whenever we use corticosteroids in diabetic patient it’s spike your blood glucose that’s why her blood glucose level going high and your doctor use prednisolone that’s duration of action is 36-48 hr so that’s the reason behind high glucose level so kindly tell your Dr. to use insulin instead of oral drug
and fourth point is that ask your d...more
