You should not change bp tablet or reduce it without consulting your physician. It only 'controls' bp at certain level but does not cure permanently. Don't change bp dosage without consulting your physician.

It all boils down to wether his bp is controlled on telmisartan or not.. yes olmesartan is a slightly more potent molecule
