My bp used to be 140-45/90 with telma 40+40 and clean 5+5. However for last few days bp is shooting upto 166/100 in morning and evening hours, without any known cause. First reading after waking up in the mng is ok. Doctor advised discontinuing cilny 5+5 and instead taking amlodipine 5 one time for now, which I am taking at night, for past three days. I) request second opinion. Ii) can I re-schedule amlodipine 5 to after lunch (mid two doses of telma 40) so that evng hike in bp is avoided?

This is a followup question for Dr. Anunai shrivastav who answered my question recently. He suggested to stop ramipril and take olmesartan 40 mg. Thanks for that. I will be obliged if he can tell me, if I can take telmisartan 40 mg which is consumed by my wife and is readily available with us. I can try that for a week if doctor has no reservations. Advice if amlodipine also can be continued with telmisartan. For olmesartan 40 mg ,i do not have prescription. I paste below my earlier question for reference as below:- I am diabetic on insugen 30/70 refill injection, glycomet gp2, ppg 0.3 mg and other drugs. I am also hypertensive on ramipril 5 mg and amlodipine 5 mg. My query is related to hypertension and not on diabetic problem. I am taking the above medicines for last 5 years on hypertension but my hypertension is more than 160/75. It shoots to 175 frequently. I began treadmill jogging exercise for 1 hour every day and then hypertension reduces to about 150/72. If I do not jog for 1 day, hypertension goes back to 160/170. I am consuming ramipril 5 mg + amlodipine 5 mg everyday, once before lunch. The hypertension is not at all reduced with these drugs but only by jogging. I am 60 years old and jogging for 1 hour is very strenuous, leading to knee pain frequently. Suggest replacement drugs for hypertension.

best medicine to control blood pressure is exercise as you realize. As of now your blood pressure menu is having space to either increase dose or add one more drug. Here I will suggest to add one more drug chlorthalidone 12.5 mg.

I am 70 years old, not diabetic and take telma d for my bp. My sgot levels are high (50 - 58) for the past few months. All other parameters in lft, hemogram and lipid profile are normal. What should I do?

I personally do not prefer tab telma d.as causes lowering of serum sodium level in long term. So change it with medications like telmisartan and cilnidipine. Sgot just borderline high. Don't worry about it. Do a usg whole abdomen if possible.

M18, I have stage 2 hypertension, previously took telmisartan 20 mg for one month which showed little improvement (only -10), then the same doctor started telmisartan (20) + chlorthalidone (6.25). Now another doctor (different speciality though) whom I originally had consulted for some other issues gave me telmisartan 40 mg also. Different medication though I did told him about my prior medications. So my question is which one should I continue? Telmisartan at higher dosage than before or telmisartan + chlorthalidone? Or either one is fine?

Both are good choices. My preference is for telmisartan single drug treatment for young person
what other care are you taking for high bp? Tests, diet etc. Maybe take an online consult if you want more details and thorough opinion.

I am asthmatic. I have cough and wheezing. Also have bp. I take telma am in the morning after breakfast. I have experienced more cough and allergy after taking telma am. I have taking it for almost 6-7 years. Today I did online consultation with cardiologist and he suggested take daily dose of amlodipine 5 mg. I have taken and checked my blood pressure, at least 5 times since 10 am and I found it between 130-135 by 85-90. Can you suggest what should I do to control it. I do regular walk of 1 hour in the morning.

Reduce your weight. Telma am in most cases should not cause cough/wheeze. If your cough and wheeze are controlled after stoping telma am ,then can take only amlodopin, with salt restriction, yoga and meditation.

I'm diabetic since last 20 years. I'm given Tab. For BP 1.FIrst time Natrilix SR 1.5 mg (BP 130/90) 2.2nd time Amlong 5 mg (BP 150/95) 3.3rd time. Natrilam 5 mg (change for feet swelling) 4.4th time. Telma40 mg (change for swelling) 4. Now telmisartan (Telma20 mg). BP was 115/80. But I could not take for 5 days continuously and checked every day 2 times it is 120/80. Kindly advise whether it should be continued or not or reduce the dosage.

If your BP remains high with out medicine, you have to take some anti hypertensive medicine under supervision of a Physician. Discuss everything with him.

I have started to take metosartan 50 due to high bp and chest angina which had a days ago after consulting a cardiologist. As I am a bp patient I used to had telma 40 h.but due to this I found that I got erection problems. This erection problem I reported to the cardiologist hence he prescribed me beta blocker metosartan 50. But I found that this betablocker also effects your sexual health. Hence what to do ?what bp medicines I should take to lower my bp and do not have any effect in my erection problem. Please advice.
