Sir, my husband 44 years old, has got 2 paralysis, right side in sept 2018 and left side of body in mar 2019. Since then he is bedridden. But now improving with physiotherapy n massage. He is on levipil 1 mg bd, eptoin 100-tds, lacosam 200 - bd, armod 50 - od. Now how can we reduce the dosage? Now his pathological reports are completely fine. Bp is normally btwn 110/70 to 130/90 without specific medicines. What can be done now? Earlier he was having levipil 500 bd, but in mar 2020 he got jerky eye moment, as per doctors it was minor fit. So she doubled the dosage and told to continue this dosage till nxt 2 months. But becoz of lockdown and this pandemic she is not taking risk of reducing the dose. But on the other hand, this heavy dosage will affect his kidney, lever and other organs of the body. What to do? Pls suggest. Varsha. Mumbai.

It is good to know that his seizures are controlled with the above medicines. Since he has had a seizure recently in march I will not recommend reducing the dosage just now. Another seizure will be a set back and best avoided.
Please also continue the medication for stroke prevention and physiotherapy.

My daughter was diagnosed with severe anxiety disorder during january and was taking risdone 0.5 mg twice daily, rexipra 5 mg once daily and waklert 150 once daily to overcome drowsiness caused by risdone, many of her problems improved such as irritability, anger, concentration lacking with medication but the major problem that she is facing now that inspite of giving lots of efforts and time she is unable to memorize topics though there is no understanding and concentration problems. Her doctor prescribed cognivel tablet once daily and increased the dose of rexipra (one & half tablet of 5 mg once daily) and asked if she feels better she can take two tablets of cognivel and 2 tablets of rexipra (5 mg) and asked for counseling. Will these medications help her to improve her memorizing problems? Can she take increased dose i.e two tablets of rexipra (5 mg) and 2 tablets of cognivel if there is any improvement. Since she lives in hostel is unable to attend counseling sessions regularly. She has done only one counseling session. Can she continue her medicines until she attends required counseling sessions.

First you need to talk to your doctor about this cocktail of medications. If you are feeling nervous, it may be due to side effects of wakelert tablet which contains armodafinil as parent drug. In my view, petril beta at night is also not very useful, unless you have night time panic attacks plus d venizep & petril beta both contain clonazepam, which may be causing the daytime sedation to you, and for which you are taking armodafinil, to feel fresh. Dear Sunit,
There are no drug without any side effect. One has to weigh the effect with the side effect.
There are different type of antidepressants. Some like mirtadep may increase appetite and armod may decrease appetite. Each drugs side effects are different. The same drug also causes different side effect at different dose. Interaction with other drugs also cause or nullify side effects.
