My daughter is 21 years old diagnosed with severe stress and was prescribed to take 0.5 mg risdone twice daily but her condition was not improve much and felt sleepiness throughout the day and unable to concentrate in studies so doctor asked to take rexipra 5 mg along with risdone and she started feeling much better and able to focus but problem of drowsiness remained so doctor her reduced her dose of risdone to 0.5 mg once daily and asked to take wakelert 150 mg if too much sleepiness is there. But after new dose she started feeling dull and there was feeling of some unexplained uneasiness in mind and was not able to focus though waklert was keeping her awake so doctor asked to stop risdone and observe but her mental health deteriorated with problem of breathlessness so doctor again asked to start risdone 0.5 mg once a day but she found that risdone 0.5 mg twice a day along with rexipra 5 mg is very helpful for her but there is problem of too much drowsiness so she needs to take waklert regularly. What should she do now? Should she continue risdone 0.5 mg twice daily with rexipra 5 mg and waklert 150?

Dear sir please continue the medication as prescribed and it is advisable not to adjust the dose of wakalert by herself but speak to her psychiatrist. Also, both risdon and rexipra can be taken once a day, so discuss with your psychiatrist if she can take 1 mg risdon and 10 mg rexipra as a single dose in evening instead of twice a day and see if drowsiness reduces.

Dear lybrate-user,
You seem to be having medical problems like obesity, diabetes and high bp. The psychiatrist has assessed both your medical and psychiatric disorder and advised the treatment. You need to follow her/his advice. Side effect has to be experienced by you and to be discussed with the psychiatrist so that she/he can adjust the dose. You may not experience any side effect at all. You need to wait for 2-3 weeks for these tablets to start giving you any benefit.

My daughter was diagnosed with severe anxiety disorder and was on medication. She was taking risdone 0.5 mg twice daily, rexipra 5 mg once daily and waklert 150 once daily since she was feeling to drowsy due to risdone. Many of her problems such as irritability, anger ,concentration lack improved with medication but the major problem she is facing now is that she is unable to memorize topics inspite of giving lots of efforts though there is no understanding and concentration problem this problem makes her restless. Her doctor asked to increase dose of rexipra 5 mg from one tablet to one and half tablet and to take one tablet of cognivel with risdone and waklert also advice for counseling. Doctor also said that if she feels better she can take 2 tablets of rexipra 5 mg and 2 tablets of cognivel daily. Would these new medicines help her to memorize topics? Can she increase dose of rexipra and cognivel if feels better with initial dose? She has attend just one counseling session. She stays in hostel so she is unable to attend counseling sessions regularly. It may take long to complete counseling sessions so can she continue cognivel, rexipra, risdone and waklert till then?

Mild and moderate depression can be helped with just counselling and may not require medicines. But if it is severe medicines are required but multiple medicines are not advisable. Clonazepam can cause more tiredness feeling, and on a log run can cause worsen depression. Wakelert is not a first line antidepressant.
Lack of energy can be a symptom of depression but can also be due to low thyroid levels and hb which need to be corrected.
You could try fluoxetine or reboxetine they are less...more
