Hello, Thanks for the query.
I have gone through the details given. It is clear that with present treatment blood glucose is not in control as it should be. Ideally fasting glucose should be < 100 mg, PP 160 to 180 mg & HbA1c% < 7 (not mentioned). There is need to either add some additional drug or change the treatment. Also look at your diet and extent of daily physical activity, that will also help in better control of blood glucose.

From the info provided, you seem to be having early onset type 2 diabetes. Continue as per your doctor's advice. Sorry, your aunt is wrong. These medicines, if taken at the right dose & with regular monitoring, will not damage your kidneys.

Betacap TR is given for hand tremors (vibration) not for BP. So let her continue it. Check BP regularly ,as you said it can decrease BP aswell.

Although I can't say with absolute certainty that diabetes is the cause of your erection problems, it's very likely that this is the case.
Erectile dysfunction (ED) is far commoner in diabetics. Fortunately, these days it can be treated, and the new anti-ED drugs give excellent results in most diabetic men who have this problem.
In particular, the three oral drugs which are available in 2011 can all help the majority of diabetic guys who have erection difficulties.

Please mention correct figures. You mentioned BP as 95/100 (please check it again because this is not correct and of I consider it as 100/95 nobody will prescribe medicine for it)
Try to avoid unnecessary medication as you have mentioned you have one kidney.
Mildly hogh cholesterol can be corrected with doet and regular exercise, which will be helpful in diabetes control also.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
At 40 years, HbA1c% should be closer to 6.8%, to say one has good control. From the glucose levels mentioned, it is clear that present treatment is not helping in controlling blood glucose level. Ideally FBG should be < 100 mg, PP 150 to 160 mg & HbA1c% <6.8.
Therefore, we need to have a re-look at the present treatment, dietary intake and extent of daily exercise. We may have to change the present drugs or add one or more compounds to the current ...more
