Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Mentioned glucose levels are too high. In such case usually we adviseInsulin treatment for at least first 3 months along with oral antidiabetics then after achieving strict glucose control Insulin can be reduced or discontinued. That is always a better line of treatment. The reason is with such high glucose levels, beta cells are very severely affected. Hence early glucose control is advisable. Thanks.

Hello, Thanks for the query.
The details given are unclear. Since there is no mention of actual fasting, PP glucose levels,& HbA1c% there is no way to give any suggestions. Because by saying " sugar level & HbA1c5 are in good control" I do not understand what is considered as normal. thanks.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
The dosage of various medicines for glucose control can be adjusted on the basis of patients needs, doctor's advise and also based on dietary intake. Usually Glimepiride is either given once a day or twice in some cases. Metformin can be given 3 times a day again depending upon the need. Voglibose is usually recommended with each meal, that is three times a day. As it is mainly for reducing post food glucose rise. Thanks.

Mr. Lybrate-user, looking at the details given show that diabetes is uncontrolled. Needs better control, either through improved treatment and/or diet and exercise. First thing your fasting and pp should be 100 mg and 150 to 160 mg and hba1c% <7.
So it is essential to achieve that kind of control, then only all symptoms can be controlled.
As regards the precautions: take a balanced diet, providing exact calories based on blood sugar levels, ideal body weight and extent of daily exercise....more

No, you don't need to do anything else.
1. Just have calorie restricted balanced diet. Especially have salad in each meal and one seasonal fruit everyday.
2. Do aerobic exercise, ideally 150 mins per week.

Thanks for the query.
I have gone through the details given, but the information is very general, so it is not possible to give any advise or suggestion. I need to know following things: Fasting, PP blood glucose levels, HbA1c%, height, weight, dietary pattern, extent of daily exercise, drugs being taken with dosage. It is better if you come in a private conversation (paid consultation) with all the details, then I can give specific advise and even prescriptions if required, as in this commu...more
