Both the products are same. The er refers to extended release, which means the drug is released slowly over 12 hours in the gut. That helps maintain a longer therapeutic level. It is beneficial more so if a person has any side effects like gastrointestinal disturbances if plain metformin is taken. Both are fine. Thanks.

The reason is your tablet. Glyson mf. Another reason may be your irregular meal timings. You can be started with metformin 500 twice daily. Please consult your nearby diabetologist doctor as early as possible and do not indulge in self medication.

No it will have one medicine less that is voglibose. Hence sugar level will increase. Discuss with your doctor who will add another medicine with different mechanism of action.

For metformin extended release, the maximum doasge is 2000 grams a day provided kidney function is ok. You coul change jalra m to jalra. But in the light of hba1c creeping above 9 I would suggest you to start a long acting insulin, preferably lantus.

It comes in 500 mg and 1000 mg can be taken after food because of its adverse effect to cause gastritis.

Glynase usually works during the first few years & then starts failing. You should consider starting gliptins along with metformin.
