Hello,
Thanks for your query on Lybrate
"As" per your clinical history is concerned HIV can spread from sexual contact or via infected blood so first check if she is not a HIV patient.
To prevent it in future follow like this -
1) Try to use a new condom every time you have sex. If you don't know the HIV status of your partner, use a new condom every time you have anal or vaginal sex. Women can use a female condom. Use only water-based lubricants. Oil-based lubricants can weaken ...more

The only symptoms I have now is occasional mild fever, frequent mild headaches and some weightless (about 5 kg) no abdominal pains, no yellowing of eyes or skin ive been diagnosed with chronic hbv since 2015 and i'm 33 years old. My last checked viral load is august 2022 - 78 iu/ml april 2023 - 1700 iu/ml. My gp recommended treatment for me as he assumed there was active replication of virus. So I have been taking tenofovir disoproxil fumarate tablets ip 300 mg daily for almost 6 weeks now. I recently consulted a specialist who asked for some more tests including an abdominal ct scan, head ct scan and a fibroscan. And tests revealed I have moderate fatty liver but no scaring or fibrosis. Liver function and size remains normal. All other organs appear normal. Specialist mentioned that I shouldn't have started tenofovir treatment as my liver alt levels and viral load indicate no need for treatment. My question now is do I continue taking the antiviral tenofovir df (as it can have long term side effects) or I can stop and use ayurvedic medication like liv 52hb to control viral replication. I still experience the symptoms but weight loss has slowed down. Also can my liver condition (hbv /fatty liver) be a cause of the symptoms I am getting? Thank you for this platform.

Dear user. Thanks for the question. Hiv spread through contact between broken skin, wounds, or mucous membranes and hiv-infected blood or blood-contaminated body fluids. Deep, open-mouth kissing if both partners have sores or bleeding gums and blood from the hiv-positive partner gets into the bloodstream of the hiv-negative partner. Hiv can not spread through saliva. Take care.

Pre-exposure prophylaxis is a treatment method for people who do not have the HIV infection but who might be facing a considerable risk of contacting the disease. It is done by taking one pill daily. The pill comprises of two medicines i.e. tenofovir and emtricitabine. These two are combined with other drugs in order to treat HIV. When a person is exposed to HIV, be it through sexual intercourse or shared needles, these drugs help in stopping the infection from reaching an advanced stage.
