I am suffering from cannabis induced psychosis from 8 years. See I am really stressed and depressed in my life. I hear voices which bully me, I see people talking about me and all things. I am educated about symptoms but not getting a treatment. Please I need treatment. Will anyone help. Escitalopram, venlafaxine, fluoxetine, paroxetine, sertraline, oleanz plus, lurasid. All done on me. I gave every medicine enough time. I mean to every medicine a year. And every single medicine I mentioned gave me panic attacks, heavy eyes, heavy head. Please understand me I blindly followed every psychiatrist I visited but what will I do when the medicine gives me relaxation for 1 week, than headache starts, after that heavy head and sometimes panic attack. After that my doctor says its due to anxiety, I still take it, than a worst panic attack comes. Than I take etizolam, than paroxetine starts than the same thing repeats after sometime. From last 5 years, I am in a circle of my health. Crying.

These are all psychotic symptoms and need not only medication but also intense psychotherapy. If you have not tried therapy, you are likely to get worse and suffer unnecessary disturbances. So now you need not follow therapy blindly because you will be taught tools, skills, and techniques to help you deal with the psychosis. This is a difficult path but it is clearly the best way to sort out your problems effectively. There is no doubt that this disease is debilitating but you must persevere not...more

Diagnosed as Moderate Obstructive Sleep Apnoea. Hello, From last 11 years I have been suffering with Morning drowsiness, Fatigue & day time sleepiness for 15 days per month where I work more (mental and physically). From last 1 year, I thought to fight against it as I am unable to do my daily routines with this problem and hence I consulted NIMHANS, Bangalore and they came to conclusion that Depression and started T. Venlafaxine 225mg. I undergone sleep study (polysomnography) and finally it came as Moderate Obstructive Sleep Apnoea. Respiratory Distress Index is 28/hr. The doctor said that brain is awakening many times though you are not waking at night due to which I am unable to relax fully and hence the fatigue and day time sleepiness. Does this Sleep apnoea can show as more fatigability, drowsy, morning sleepy when I do more work? Whats the relation between more work and next day drowsy if I have daily sleep apnea, does the body need more rest during more work and hence the problem is being faced at heavy mental work? why this problem cant be neurasthenia as that also occurs at when more mental & physical work is done? The doctors saying that I need to go for CPAP titration and then to CPAP machine. Over internet I read that oral based appliance is also being used for Sleep apnea, which one is best, user friendly and cost effective? Can I be fully normal after using CPAP machine as I being diagnosed as psychiatric until now?

I am in depression and a lot of exam stress as I am a medical pg aspirant and a doctor, I am using few medications, bupropion 300 mg, lamotrigine 200 mg, venlafaxine 37. 5 mg, aripiprazole 5 mg, pacitane 2 mg, rabeprazole and ondansetron, these r prescribed drugs by a psychiatrist but I myself take. Few medications since 4 years to help with my studies, stimulants (legal ones) to be specific, modafinil 200 mg, selegiline 5 mg, caffeine 220 mg, and the problem now is I never smoked in my life, although I used to drink one year before, only one year I used to drink, was a social occasional drinker and never had cravings and have been alcohol free since a year, but now although I never smoked before, I feel like smoking to relieve my stress despite taking so many drugs, I am still suffering, feel like crying and lack of motivation to study unless I take stimulants, so smoking cravings without even smoking ever before is my problem, I don't know why?, I was maybe a bit influenced by looking at movies and my friends all around me who smoke whenever they r stressed out, which helps with them actually, maybe I thought smoking a bit might relieve stress and make me motivated a bit so I start studying again, can any psychiatrist can help me with this problem? And explain why I am having cravings ?(note: the bupropion I am using is for depression not for smoking cessation), please help me find a solution, I would take a consult as well if somebody who r addiction specialist who can help me with my problem and explain what I am going thru, thank you.

Its probably due to social learning from your intimate environment where you would have seen people taking about/ experiencing stress and smoking simultaneously. Other probable reason is the use of stimulants which usually provokes tolerance with time and as you are taking stimulant at a fixed dose so the brain might have demanding for some stimulant and it knows that nicotine is one of them. I believe you are on a cocktail of medications both self prescribed and self medicated, the latter ones ...more

Anxiety and depression oftentimes go together. The weight gain is not surprising some due to the medication, and some due to lower metabolic rate, and low exercise, and emotional eating. There may be genetic influences for diabetes and she must take precautions. There seem to be some psychological problems that need investigation and treatment from a counselor too. I believe there may be some genetic predisposition or there has been some childhood issue, related to anger and fear, that needs urg...more

I am sorry to hear about your concern but will be happy to assist you.
Take venlafaxine once or twice a day as recommended by your doctor. It's best to take venlafaxine with food so it doesn't make you feel sick.
Let's connect over a call so that we can discuss your concern in details and make a suitable treatment plan for you.

Hello there, This is Nasrat, 29 years old, I`m suffering form depression since last four years while I have last my beloved brother. So, I took different kinds of medications such as fluoxetine 20 mg, escitalopram 10 mg, paroxetine 10 mg, mirtazapine USP 15 mg, venlafaxine Hcl 75 mg, Lithium carbonate B.P. 400 mg etc. But still I have the same problem, difficulty in thinking (poor concentration, poor memory), excessive feel of guilt, loss of interest in most activities, sleep disturbances, decreased energy or tiredness, feeling of low self confidence, feeling of hopelessness, decrease in activity, excessive or inappropriate worries, anticipation of the worst, thoughts of suicide. Besides, I have premature ejaculation and no sexual desire. So, I`m really disappointed. Are there any solution for my problems? Its mentionable that when I was in Japan, I took Lorazepam (0, 5 mg), Brotizlolam (0, 25 mg), Trazodone (25 mg), Suvorexant (20 mg), Escitalopram (10 mg), Lansoprazole (15 mg) for 8 months, with those medications I felt very well, but unfortunately, when I returned to my country, there were no those medications available, and my depression attacked me again. So, dear doctors Please please please recommend me what to do? I`m not interested to live in this world but, I`m the only person to support my big family. At the same time, I took (Clarithromycin 500 mg, Amoxicillin 1000 mg 14 days), (Lansoprazole 30 mg 3 months) for positive h pylori but did not work. Again, I took (Clarithromycin 500 mg, metronidazole, Amoxicillin 1000 mg 14 days), (esomeprazole 40 mg 3 months) for positive h pylori but still I have the same issue. Your cooperation would be highly appreciated. Thank you so much in advance.

Dear lybrate-user,
You need a proper diagnosis before going in for treatment. If h pylori is confirmed, it needs active treatment. Premature ejaculation and loss of sexual desire also needs to be diagnosed and treated. At Japan, you were treated with Lorazepam (available in India). Instead of brotizolam, you can try etizolam available in India. Trazodone available in India. Suvorexant is another mild hypnotic. You don't need so many hypnotic and anxiolytic. Lorazepam or etizolam will do. Esc...more

Hi, by the list of medications I can understand that you have tried a lot of medicines. Still your problem is not resolved. Since you are near to bangalore the best way I could suggest is visit nimhans bangalore and consult a psychiatrist and a therapist for your current problem you might need more of therapy and a different kind of antipsychotic which works for dysthymia. The medicines which you have mentioned are antidepressants and does not necessarily work in dysthymia.
