Dear lybrate-user,
you can give your mom valparin alkalets 500 mg itself not only today, even hereafter. Probably she may need a little extra dose of valparin alkalets compared to valparin chrono. But that is not immediate. When you go back to cip next 3 months, please inform about change of medication. The psychiatrist there will adjust the dose, if needed.

I’d be happy to see you in our Specialty Epilepsy Clinic at Wockhardt Hospitals on Wednesdays from 3-6 pm where an epileptologist and myself see patients together to give them the best opinion that comprehensively solves their problem.

You should continue your anti epileptics, if seizure recurs after stopping the medication. If someone is seizure free for more than 3 years, and patient has no cognitive impairments with normal mri brain and normal eeg, then we consider tapering the dose of anti epileptics.
