Please do not use the steroid ointment. It will make your problem worse. You need lifestyle modification by taking lots of fluid and change your diet to prevent constipation. Also check your thyroid level which maybe cause for constipation. Try to take laxatives if you feel stool is hard, and try lignocaine and diltiazem ointment. Consult for further queries. Thank you.

Umbilical cord separates at 1 week of age. It is quite normal to notice some discharge for 1-2 days after this. It will dry and stop with normal cleansing. You can wipe with warm water and clean cloth. If it persists after 2 days, it might indicate umbilical granuloma which is scar tissue. Antibiotic powder and ointment is not necessary.
