She has been rightly prescribed. But before increasing the dose of medication, ensure that she was taking previously prescribed medication regularly even without missing a single dose, ensure that she has not concomitantly taken any other medication that known to induce seizure, ensure that she was not sleep deprived prior to the episode of recent seizure, if none of these precipitating factors are present, then increasing the dose of valance is rational.

Hi . Divalproex sodium is an anti-epileptic drug and can be given for controlling seizures or fits. It also has been used as a mood stabilizer for some mood related psychiatric conditions. Betacap tr 40 is propranolol and is often used to bring the heart rate down. It is used in controlling blood pressure, anxiety, tensions and hand tremors.

My Younger brother whose age is 20 and student of psychology and economics , He suffered from psychosis as he used to smoke marijuana hash and weeds for the last two and half years and suddenly stopped it, we consulted Dr. and some medication prescribed by him. When I came to know about situation I went to Aligarh from Delhi (Working here) and found that he was not able to sleep for the last 5 days (probably 1 hr each day he slept) after we consulted psychiatrist he went extremely well as we took him to a trip for five days, after 5-7 days we stopped medication as he was good as earlier and suddenly after 5 days a relapse in same situation with fear and phobia and that phobia is increasing day by day and sometimes decreasing, I am not able to understand what exactly we need to do. The medication prescribed are-Divaa OD-250 (Divalproex Sodium) - 250mgOleanz (Olanzapine) - 5MgLonazep 2 Mgand after relapse -Felicita OD Caps. He used to study and practice spiritual things like Aura reading, psychic powers and Illuminati Groups, he fears that something bad going to happen according to his extra sensory perception which I cannot understand. Whenever he watches any tv channel relates it to himself or family or our family ancestors and fears that there is conspiracy and planning to kill or abduct us (family or him). He is now having suicidal thoughts which I am extremely worried about, he is an intelligent student and extra ordinary performer with good IQ. According to him Delhi is not safe for him, however I decided to take him to mother in hometown which is in UP East, we have a sorrow filled family history with divorce of our parents at the age of 8. Father had fewer symptoms of schizophrenia and very mild and he is an ENT surgeon, a doctor by profession. I am 22 years old, doing job in a BPO to support family and studies, I always used to send him very limited money so that he himself can do some part time job to become a responsible person but he was never able to do so. Please help me to get my brother on right track and remove all delusional or false thought from his mind. Doctor now prescribed trinicalm, which is for schizophrenia and which blocks dopamine receptors, he is happy and gets sometimes fear about being himself or me abducted as he has posted and revealed illuminati groups, according to him which is delusional. His eyelids moves sometime at very frequent interval which I think involuntary. Please he me, I will be highly obliged to you doctors.

Yes you are indeed taking good care of him and so is the psychiatrist. Keeping him mentally and physically occupied with a purpose is important. Some delusions will go away and some new might come. It takes time for delusions to leave a person completely. Counselling can helps schizophrenics if they are not extremely disturbed by it. Ask his doctor and take him for counselling to control his delusions and fears. Also the drugs weed and marijuana would have weakened his system and left behind a l...more

Dear Harshit,
It looks as though Kavita was given tablets for manic episode at present. There is no mood stabilizer in the list you have given.
For 20 years, what are the medicines she was taking that kept her fine for many years. Lithium carbonate, divalproex or carbamazepine? At what dose and what blood level (lithium and divalproex).
Probably the same drug, if it does not cause disturbance in her diabetes treatment, will be prescribed to her after controlling the present manic epi...more

Dear lybrate-user,
if you are suffering from bipolar disorder, you need effective mood stabiliser like lithium carbonate, divalproex or carbamazepine. Eritric dose need to be adjusted according to the effect you need. Probably you may not need oratric. It becomes ineffective in course of time. You may not become angry and violent often, if proper dose of mood stabiliser is taken.
