Asked for male, 42 years old from Dehradun

Actually, I had a bladder pain bcs of urine stream was weak and later was not passing out and when doctor checked by endoscopy then he found high bladder neck which he advised tasulin 0.4 mg one tablet daily for lifetime to maintain the urine flow but by somehow some infection came as per routine urine report so he advised to cure by taking this oriprim ds 1/2 tablet for 2 months which antibiotic. So just wanted to ask if it is safe to take it till this time.

Tamsulosin is safe to be taken for long term. Get a repeat uroflowmetry done to see the benefit of tamsulosin. If no major improvements then we may need to escalate therapy and add newer therapies. And get a urine examination done again along with post voidal residue. Review once done. Will guide you further.

There are medicines eg tamsulosin, alfuzocin etc to prevent the further enlargement and studies indicates about 20 to 25% reduction in size of prostate.

Ok. You can add tab tamsulosin 0.4 mg at bedtime if you have associated difficulty in passing urine.

Please do visit a surgeon. It can be due to BPH which is extremely common in this age group. Alpha blockers are generally used. Eg tamsulosin Regards.

It is good if you have used combination of deflazacort and tamsulosin. This is best for expulsion of stone but if still it has not come out and is giving you problem then better'to get it removed endoscopically by a urologist.

I am 60 years old now and suffering from grade 1 bph from 2013. My prostate size was 33 cc in the year 2013. From that time onwards I am taking tamdura, one tab daily and doing psa test every 6 months. Now prostate size is 25 cc and my psa is between 3.5 and 4.5. Should I continue or stop tamdura? Hi, I was advised to tale roliflo OD 4, by my doctor as they were suspecting bph, as I was complaining of frequent urination especially twice at night, after taking this medicine now I am feeling reverse, and observing that there is less urine output and I have to make an effort to urinate, just want to know that is this normal and I hope this less urination will not cause any other complication.

It is better if instead of roliflo you take simple dynapress which contains simple tamsulosin. You will not have to apply pressure to pass urine if you take only dynapress.

Every medicine for bph will have some side effects. Because you are sexually active for you alfoo is best. Otherwise other common drug is dutas t.it has tamsulosin which causes retrograde ejaculation. If you have completed your family you can try this.

Ureteric stone unlikely to cause this. An alpha adrenergic blocker like tamsulosin given for medical expulsion therapy in ureteric calculus can result retrograde ejaculation.

You have been prescribed a combination of tamsulosin and dutasteride for a prostate size of 33 grams, if you feel that your are passing urine satisfactorily then visit your urologist and get a uroflowmetry and an ultrasound kub with post void residual urine check done, if your urologist finds the results satisfactory then he may start you on plain tamsulosin.
