I am female aged 27, Unmarried. I have problem of urine Frequency and sudden urge. When I drink a lot of water I go to washroom lot many times even after half an hour or sometimes 15 minutes, and Urine comes with full pressure the problem arises when little amount of urine left in bladder and it comes out in drops and sometimes I sit in washroom and concentrate to pass out even two-three drops. When I don't drink water I feel like I have to pass out water and it comes out very little and in drops. There was no infection in the urine and CT scan was completely normal, no puss, no increased mass in the bladder, no stones. And doctors said it is symptoms of cystitis. I feel frequency more in the morning and sometimes in the evening too. Sometimes urine passes out at one time without any urine left but most of the times, in the end, I feel some urine still left in the bladder and it comes out in a few drops. I consulted one of the doctors in the town, they took my urine sample and a CT scan. But I still have these symptoms and I don't know whether it is cystitis or Urethral Stricture. I work in the office and I feel embarrassed to go to the washroom several times and sometimes in the meetings. It is affecting my social and work life, please help. If you can suggest me any medicine or procedure for medical treatment and tell me the reason why it happened. It will be so helpful to me.

Dear lybrate-user,
from your symptoms it appears that you may have urethral syndrome. This is often because of urethral stenosis. I assume you had a urine culture done and it was negative. You need to consult a urologist and check a post void residual urine. If there is significant residue you may heed urethral dilatation. Check your blood sugars also as the problem is more common in diabetics

For women, taking care of their health should be top priority, but especially so if one is expecting. Urinary tract infections (UTI) are more common in women and usually occur in the bladder or urethra. And with the rigours of pregnancy, would you avoid one if you could? Surely!

Reproductive health is a significant social and medical concern in a developing country like India. Women are susceptible to the condition and those that develop this disease within two weeks of treatment either undergo a recurrence or an infection owing to the original uropathogen. This can lead to infection and is quite common between 6 and 24 weeks of pregnancy.

While UTI is something that is very common and treated with a round of antibiotics, with pregnancy, doctors would not want to do that. Since an...more

A urinary tract infection can be painful and annoying. Most urinary tract infections affect the bladder and urethra, but it can also affect the kidneys and ureter. Women have a higher risk of suffering from this infection as compared to men. This is because women have a shorter urethra than men and hence the bacteria needs to travel a shorter distance to reach the bladder. Urinary tract infections can usually be treated easily with a course of antibiotics as long as they are detected in time. If...more
