Revered sir/ma'am i'm 22 years old & previously on 2nd march, my gynae prescribed me (nitrofurantoin & becosules) to treat uti as in my (urine culture, e coli) bacteria was found. On 15th of april, I switched to homeopathy as no relief was observed. Currently i'm on can notharis medication. Today is 10th day on can notharis, but I see minimal relief. What can be possible causes? What're some suggestions for me?

Sir, c/o itching in whole body time to time daily Please refer my wife's (33 wks of pregnancy) LFT and urea/creatinine test. LFT-Total bilirubin-1.2 mg/dl, direct bilirubin-0.4 mg/dl, sgot-45 mg/dl, sgpt-53 mg/dl and BLOOD- urea-34 mg/dl creatinine-0.8 mg/dl medication: Tab Udiliv 300 mg tds syp alcasole 2 tsf tds vit c tab avil . But no relief so what to do next? Doctor has advised to take Cap Nitrofurantoin 100 mg 1 BD for 5 days, after seeing urine culture report which showed E.Coli infection, is it safe in pregnancy of 33 week?

yes nitrofurantoin can be given at 33 wks. it is safe. controlling urinary infection is more important.

I have been suffering from urinary tract infections since one month doctor prescribed me to take urine routine and urine culture test reports show there is protein loss in urine with single positive (+) mark nd red blood cell and bacteria with double positive (++)mark doctor gave me antibiotics for 5 days like norflox 400 but it didn't reduce my infection after that doctor has changed my medicine he gave me, mikacin injection once for two days, martifur 100, urispas 200, pyridium twice for 5 days it works and it reduced me infections but not totally cured doctor extended my medicine course for 5 days after that I took urine routine test which shows protein is absent and bacteria is absent and rec blood cell also absent then I stopped the medicine course but after 5 days my left ball testicle are paining does it causes by urine infections and it is sign of regrow my bacteria again please suggest me doctor m getting frustrate please.

Good evening Dr. I require your kind advice regarding my mom's medication. You see my mom had persistent uti & e-coli infection for almost a year throughout 2018-2019. Her health deteriorated due to which she had a fall last year & got fractures in her spine & right shoulder, for which she was operated with screws & rod insertions i.e. Dorsal spine fixation & proximal humerus plating. However she had incidents of granulation tissue pouring out on the spine suture area twice after the initial surgery, due to which she had been operated two more times to sort out the problem. The reason for the granulation tissue pouring out was described as the Dr. As being due to high uti & e-coli infection. She took iv antibiotics for 7 weeks and was also prescribed nitrofurantoin 100 mg for 1 year which would completely eliminate her uti & e-coli. My mom however had for only 5 months & quit. It's been 4 months now since she quit, & now suddenly she's experiencing frequent urination, overactive bladder and urine incontinence since 3 days. Also there is inflammation during urination. Kindly suggest me if there is no harm if she starts nitrofurantoin 100 again and so for how long i.e. Remaining 7 months or any other period?

My mom has a recurring UTI e. Coli. First occurred in march 2016 treated with nitrofurantoin for 2 months but came back mid may with low grade fever and culture showing e. Coli sensitive to chloramphenicol, amikacin and sporaflxacin and partially sensitive to ampicillin/sulphabactum, tobramycin, augmentin. She has renal impairment with creatinine at 1.64, Urea is normal. She has undergone a heart bypass a year and half ago, is diabetic which is under control with medication and hypertensive also which fluctuates and she is on medication for that as well. This recurring UTI resistant to most antibiotics is worrying and the one's its sensitive to are not recommended because of renal impairment and her history. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

At 20, you have taken a lot too many antibiotics for uti. 65 days is a long time to suffer from uti. I hope a culture test & ultrasound has been done to rule out kidney stones. If not get it done now. May be culture test shows no bacterial infection and you are taking heavy antibiotics for no reason.
Take cystone (himalaya) 2 tabs every day & drink lots of water.
Get back here with reports of tests advised.

Masturbation can cause urge of passing urine. I think your symptoms are normal. You should not take more antibiotics, instead relax, eat healthy food, go for exercise and think positive.
