Antidepressants are commonly used drugs for nerve type of pain. Nerve pain generally presents as burning or electric shock like pain in a numb area or the area may have altered sensation. The medicine is more likely to affect the pain rather than numbness. It may be worth vising a doctor to rule out carpal tunnel syndrome which can be helped by injection or in severe cases by surgery.
