Lybrate-user,
You shouldn’t take medications without adequate assessment and advise of psychiatrist. If you continue to feel depressed despite the antidepressant then dosage may be increased or the medication can be reviewed and changed. Alprazolam is a short acting benzodiazepine and has been used to treat anxiety though preferably not long term. So I advise review and assessment by the psychiatrist of symptoms and medications.

Please take her to a psychiatrist for assessment and diagnosis and let the doctor prescribe medication. For you, you need to talk to your doctor if you w to reduce your dosage. Further, these medications have some side effects. I suggest that for a deeper cure from the cause of the illness, both of you undergo counselling sessions coupled with alternative treatment of ayurveda or homeopathy where the root cause is addressed rather than the symptoms. It is all due to Anxiety that you are facing this issue of not sleeping properly at night. I would suggest either you talk your anxiety out or write down the same on paper, tearing it of and then throwing it off in a dustbin thus allowing you to vent out your baggage of emotions, feelings and thoughts. If need be take a warm shower making you more relaxed before dinner.

Medicines and dosages will vary from person to person. Do not self-medicate too. Each person's constitution is different; their experiences are also different; the chemical imbalances, the chemical production and chemical receptacles vary sometimes in great many ways. Sometimes the cause for the depression will also vary. Also what you think is depression may be something else when seen in the context of the situation. So she must visit a doctor and let him or her determine the nature of the pro...more

Dear lybrate-user,
Tryptomer is a sedating antidepressant. But 10 mg is not a dose to lift depression. Please consult your doctor again. She/he may restart stabalon and prodep or increase the dose of tryptomer if you tolerate the sedation by then.

A single cycle does not create a suspicion for some problem. Just watch if you get periods within 10 days.
