I am 27 year old male and I am a pharmacist. I am suffering from ringworm infection from last 2 years on my right hip (since december 2012), I got this infection from my younger brother (his got relief from it with in 2-5monts, now he is ok). I have taken lots of medicine since 2 years, my doctor prescribed me ketoconazole cream + beclomethasone, neomycin, clotrimazole cream + 1tab fluconazole + some antihistamine drug. Some doctor prescribed me terbinafin also. When I take fluconazole tablet with appling cream also I got relief from it for 10 to 15 days, but with continue application of creams, it again occurs, some one suggest me to use clotimazole dusting powder, it give me relief but not give cure and thi again occurs. When I use combination of 3 creams (ketoconazole cream + beclomethasone, neomycin, clotrimazole cream + clobetasol, nomycin, miconazole cream) I got relief when I apply this combination. But during application of this combination it not appear & when I stop it again occurs. Please suggest me for resistant ringworm infection, which is initially half ring and now it is dotted in a small area which also looks like ring type with itching. Thanks

Do not use combination creams as they have steroid in them which does not cure the fungus but gives temporary relief. Use nizral cream twice a day on the itchy areas for 4 weeks regularly. Wear light loose breathable fabric like cotton to avoid sweating and aggravation of fungus.

I'm having the problem of itching from the past 5 months. Have consulted 3 different skin specialists, each one diagnosed differently, treated differently but hardly any benefit. 1st one diagnosed it as dermatitis and treated with Fluconazole Methylprednisolone. Problem did not subside. 2nd one diagnosed it as a different kind of dermatitis and treated with Itraconazole. Problem did not subside. 3rd one diagnosed it as scabies and treated with different compounds. Problem did not subside. Various creams - Itraconazole, Clobetasol, Neomycin etc. Tried. Problem subsides but after some time recurs. Sweating causes the itching to spread all over body. Presently, main affected parts are Groin, lower back, belt line, below knees all along lower limb. Itching causes a lot of discomfort especially during nights.

Hello lybrate-user,
I assume from reading that you are suffering from Pruritus Intriago meaning itching usually under the skin fold which usually caused due to fungal infections.
Ensure you take bath twice daily and remove all unwanted hairs and keep the body dry and wear a loose fitting clothing.
These precautions are other the medication prescribed by the doctors.
You continue to suffer from fungal infections is because of repeated fungal infections.

No, not at all. It has nothing to do with curing scabies. As scabies is a mite infestation & steroids don't kill mites.

Hi, please stop using clobetasol cream since it is a steroid and not appropriate treatment for fungal infection. Use micogel at night for a few weeks instead and see a doctor if there is no satisfactory response.

Lobate-GM cream is a topical medication that contains a combination of Clobetasol, Miconazole, and Neomycin. Clobetasol is a corticosteroid that helps reduce inflammation; Miconazole is an antifungal agent; and Neomycin is an antibiotic. While this cream can be effective for certain skin conditions, it may not be the appropriate treatment for a testicular infection. You should consult a urologist near you, or you can book an online consultation with me for a proper valuation of the infection and...more
