Microalbuminuria indicates that diabetes has affected the filtering function of kidneys. The aim of telmisartan is to prevent further kidney damage as may happen in diabetes. Don't chase the microalbumin values. There is no point in repeating it frequently.

Your father have hypertension. Hypertension over long term can cause secondary complications. You should get some workup done atleast once a year. Cbc, rft, rbs, ecg, echo, fundus, these are some bare minimum. If you had it done you can send me the reports, I will review. Now for treatment, telmisartan is really good drug. I suggest do not change the medicine from metoprolol to telmistatran 40 because by this your blood pressure become elevated sir. Continue the same medication sir.
