It is difficult to get the right combination of medications to control the symptoms as well as make the person feel comfortable without side effects. Constantly working with an astute psychiatrist. It will take time. There are no exact medicines, different people respond differently to different ones.

Dear lybrate-user,
If you are unable to tolerate any drug for OCD, please go in for cognitive therapy with exposure and response prevention therapy (ERP). It will be done on many weekly sessions by a clinical psychologist or CBT trained psychiatrist. If one of your friends or family joins as co therapist, it will be easy for you to do the homeworks in therapy. It can be done online also. You are young and suffering for long - don't allow your OCD and social phobia to spoil your future. Take ...more

Some patients require Trihexyphenidyl some do not. Its better that you discuss its need with your treating Psychiatrist. As far as lifetime treatment goes your treating Doctor must be knowing your course of illness in past 20 years and so it's best that you go with his advice regarding the type of medicine as well as the dose.

Several case series have demonstrated the effectiveness of botulinum toxin injection for the management of focal lingual movement disorders. Only 1 case of botulinum toxin injection for primary lingual dystonia induced by speaking has been reported, but this treatment has limited effectiveness. Many patients treated with botulinum toxin using a superficial...more
