Hello, thanks for the query.
Injection degludec can be used with aspart meal time insulin in t1 dm quite effectively. So you can use both these if you desire so. Thanks.

Mr. lybrate-user, thanks for the query.
Hello, to give an opinion on whether sglt-2 inhibitor will be helpful to you, or not I need to know quite a few things like serum creatinine, weight, height, egfr, diet pattern and extent of daily exercise & hba1c%. After going through those details only I will be able to give a specific answer. Thanks.

Lantus is a basal insulin which means it gives a fairly same level of control over approximately 24 hrs. Ryzodeg is a combination of aspart which acts quickly to control your post meal sugar, and degludec which acts over 24 hrs. Its in a fixed combination (30/70) so any change in the total dose will compulsorily change both the components in the same proportion causing hypo or hyperglycemia. Are you a type 1 diabetic? because in that case its better not to take the premixed ryzodeg. Rather lantu...more

The first and the most important thing to be cleared is what exactly insulin is. Now we all are well accustomed with the fact that we get the energy to do what we do by eating the food we eat. So how exactly is all this energy generated? That is exactly what is going to be explained in the briefest way possible.

Most carbohydrates contain a type of sugar known as glucose. After we finish eating, the carbohydrates break down into smaller sugar molecules called glucose inside the digestiv...more

We hear about it in relation to weight, energy levels and diabetes, but what exactly is its schtick and how does it affect our body functioning? It is better if you come in a private conversation with ...more

Hi.
You have described your case very well, thank you for that.
As you have mentioned, your hba1c was very well controlled at 6.7 last year. You need to check in again now. If it again shows that your diabetes is very well controlled, then there is no such need of changing a very well suited insulin regiment and experiment with a newer one.
Thank you. Take care.

Hi, in t1 diabetes, unless blood sugar is properly monitored and insulin dosage is correctly adjusted, hypoglycemic episodes can occur. You may talk to your physician and see how effectively sugar levels are maintained. This is not a situation which can be addressed by online consultation. It needs a close monitoring between you and your physician. Also you may think of using insulins like glargine or degludec which are peakless.
