Tossex should not be given. Tixylix syrup 2.5 ml twice or thrice a day. The baby would require evaluation if the cough persists beyond 5-7 days.

Hello you are taking antibiotic along with a codiene containing cough syrup
your cough might be allergic in nature which will need anti allergic in tablet forms
but you should be evaluated for allergic cough first by blood tests, chest xray etc.

Dear lybrate-user, please relax and calm down. It appears that you have a viral infection, so please get a covid rt-pcr test done at the earliest. Also consult your nearby specialist as you need a thorough throat and sino-nasal evaluation done. Sincerely

Please once the antibiotic course is done, do not take any more antibiotics. Keep drinking sips of water when there is an attack of cough. Take lots of warm fluids - milk and tea with low sugars and lot of water. Avoid all cold and sour foods. Usually cough takes a while to subside. You can continue with monticope for next 15 days.

Dear lybrate-user,
check the small print on tossex and see if it contains codeine and chlorpheniramine maleate. If it contains codeine, and if your mother is sued to taking it for many years she may be addicted to the codeine component and it will be difficult to stop it. Codeine is a narcotic drug and can cause chronic constipation
there is something called tossex new which does not seem to contain codeine you can try changing over to that

2 months cough can be anything, a simple nasal allergy with post nasal drip or some serious issue such as tuberculosis. It would be kind if you upload your xray paranasal sinus & xray chest.
