Hello meenakshi. You are in morbid obese category { bmi 39.4}. It is very difficult to loose weight by diet and exercise in this category. If you do not try it seriously. I will end up requiring bariatric surgery for the same. As such high bmi is really detrimental for health in another 10 years to come.

My psychiatrist has prescribed librium 10 TDS, topiramate 25 BD and bupropionSR 150 OD. I have read that there is life threatening interaction between bupropionSR and benzodiazepine. I have been using this combination for long time. Earlier lithium carbonate and etizolam were also given now they have been stopped. I am very scared. My psychiatrist is not responding to my calls and messages. Please help me.

There is no life threatening drug interaction between the three as mentioned by you, only excessive sedation can be there, which can be adjusted with dosage. Consult your psychiatrist in person if you have more sedation rather than calling and sending sms. All the best.

I have a long standing migraine problem. Recently I was prescribed Topamac and Rivotril (.5) by a neurologist and Divaa and Pexep by a general medicine specialist. Are these medicines safe, as they show a great deal of side-effects. I do not want to get addicted to them. Is there any alternative medicine?

Alternative medicine is changing your lifestyle and dietary habits. As you have rightly said these medicines will cause serious side effects and create new diseases you should have questioned your drs who you have visited. They are treating the symptoms and not the root cause. The cause is usually elsewhere. It is mostly in the gut. You have to find the trigger for migraine which varies from person to person you have to decide which medications you need to take .Discuss with both of your drs ask them about short term and long term side effects etc. You might be having certain nutrient deficiency also Take a consult after providing a feedback with name and contact number remember get educated and not medicated you cannot fix your health without fixing your diet.

Now, Doctors have suggested Topaz Surgery. Just wanted to check how good is it? Any side effects? Will it come back again after the surgery. My wife is 50 years old. There is no other problem like diabetes or BP. Thanks.

Hello lybrate-user, Thank you for contacting me. In physiotherapy for planter fascitis, ultrasound with stretching is done. Some modification in shoes and inserts can help. If this is not helping her you can go for surgery. Your answers regarding surgery can be given by surgeon. I hope this will help you.

Dear lybrate-user, None of the anti epileptic drugs are safe to use during pregnancy but are given in patients as the risk of getting seizures gets high. There are certain newer drugs like leveteracitam and Lamotrigine which are safer to use than those you are using and hence you should try to conceive and should consult your neurologist regarding changing the medicines once you conceive.

Some time if one drink alcohol in a chronic patteren and stop suddenly can face withrawl symptoms with in 24-72 hours of absteinance. Motivation is really necessary to leave alcohol. If he takes medicine and occasionally consume alcohol will definately can cause serious effects. Advise To consult the nearest psychiatrist for de addiction and treatment and to make a decision to leave alcohol and not to relapse in future. Thiamine is what he needed and anticraving drugs as well only with the prescription of a MD PSYCHIATRIST.
