I am 44 years old, a mother of two great teenagers. I have been on prestiq for years for depression. Premarin, a hormone pill for a hysterectomy I had about 15 years ago. Some type of hctz medicine for blood pressure. Vitamin d once a week for low levels. Vyvanse from my psychiatrist that i’ve been on for years for add or adhd (i honestly have no idea which one it is). Recently, about two months ago, I started getting horrific headaches. My regular doctor had an mri done. I was a bit concerned over these weird “dips” in in skull but she did’t seemed concerned. She prescribed me topiramate in november and, although the headaches are a little better, I am now 113 pounds. I am only 5’2” and I look like i’m knocking on death’s door. I don’t know if the medicine can cause this but I even have difficulty forming or “finding”my words at times. My doctor didn’t seemed too concerned. I have had friends and family ask if i’m terminally ill I look so bad. Am I overreacting? I usually would just shrug stuff like this off but I haven’t weight this low since I was in the 9th grade.

Though it doesn't seem serious you need to have further tests to be completely sure off the same. You need to have an eeg, neuropsychological tests done to find out if there are any issues of concern regarding your word finding difficulty. Otherwise the medications seems fine, but you be sure you are taking the needed ones, and avoid the unwanted ones. Good luck.

For relief of headache, you can take rizatriptan tablets. For prevention of headaches in future, you can take propranolol or topiramate.

Hi, I have been having headaches after severe accident which took place some 17 years ago and I had a slip disc in 2 of my neck disc on the left side but the headache is on and off but lately it got worst after I went to swimming class. First 2 days it was fine, but on the 3rd day, I started having this severe headache which was severe throbbing pain and it was like I would faint if I dive in again. This continued for 5 to 6 days so I discontinued the class. I went to doctor showed the mri scan and x-rays and he said everything is fine but nothing about the injured disc (neurologist) and gave me medication for 1 month and 3 days pain killer but 3 days the pain calmed down but pain continues but my headache wasn't gone and then I checked the medicines and it was for migraine. After 1 month of medication nothing worked. Then I went to one of the top doctors here explain all again and said previous doctor gave me migraine medicine and dint work. Then he gave me another medication for 15 days and end of 15 days still nothing works (ciplar la 40 and topamac 25 mg) which never worked infact gave me lots of side effects of hand tinglings, constant urination, lose motion and tiredness. Now my headache still on, I feel the pillow are hot and my hair itself is making feel the back of my hair is very hot and none of the medications work. Please doctor help me i'm frustrated. Anyone who can treat me, i'm suffering due to this headache. I'm 31 years old and had this headache when there is lots of crowded place, warm places. The back of my neck which connects the neck and head started having this pulling pain. If I massage properly the pain goes but sometimes it doesn't work else it goes off.

Chiropractic adjustment will help.
During a headache, try to close your right nose and your left nose to breathe. In about 5 mins, your headache will go.

Im searching a best seizure medicine which has very low side effect and which do not effect to liver, kidney heart and others organs, my neuro doctor has offered me to choose one medicine from "phenytoin, carbamazepine, oxcarbazepine, eslicarbazepine, sodium valporate, topiramate, levetiracetam, lamotrigine, diavalporex, phenobarbitone, currently i'm taking clobazam 12.5 mg and lacosamide 200 mg per day but nothing improvement. I feels suddenly extreme difficulty till 30 to 50 second, I always remain conscious at that time and can talk with anyone but that difficulty what I feels which is unable to express in words. My mri report show: ring shaped cortical/ subcortical lesion with eccentric dot and blooming on swi and calcification on phage image in the left hippocampal formation with minimal peripheral gliosis/edema. Findings represent calcified granuloma most likely related to neurocysticercosis. Other diagnostic consideration is tuberculosis. 2. Mild increased signal and volume loss of the left hippocampus as compared to right. Finding are suggestive of left mesial temporal sclerosis. Clinical correlation is suggested" while I do eeg test when normal condition always show normal eeg but when 30-50 second extreme difficulty happen during eeg show abnormal ieds: left anterior temporal and there are few sharp wave discharge starting from left anterior temporal region. Now according some above report which medicine is the best for me please suggest. I want to change medicine lacosamide and clobazam. Thank you.

Every medicine affects some organ systems. As they get metabolised or excreted or turn into active metabolite. Levetiracetam does not affect liver and is well tolerated but it does negatively affect kidney function.

You are on too many medications. Well try to find out with your own Psychiatrist what he wishes to prescribe. Weight control can be achieved by reduction of Clomipramine, hopefully and Try Topiramate to control weight.

Thank you for posting your query. I am not sure how allopathy medicines did not help you. Topiramate and propranolol are very effective in reducing the severity and frequency of headaches.
At home, try to eat on time and sleep well. Avoid stress and tension.
