lybrate-user, Thanks for the query.
For TSH to come to normal (provided if the dose of Thyroxine being taken is adequate), it will approximately 6 to 8 weeks. So one needs to check TSH level after a gap of 6 to 8 weeks after starting the dose of thyroxine. But if the dose is less than needed, then TSh may not come down to desired level. Unless TSh is brought down to 3 to 4 mU/L all the symptoms are not in control. Thanks.

Hypothyroidism is a hormone deficiency disorder, where thyroid glland is not producing adequate quantity of thyroxine or nil. This is a very important hormone, required for development and day to day functioning of brain, plus involved in multiple metabolic functions in the body. Hence, has to be made available daily through thyroxine tablets for lifetime. So it is quite obvious that the treatment has to go on for whole life. There is absolutely no option. Thanks.

Lybrate-user ji, Thanks for the query.
Ideally when one is on treatment for hypothyroidism, with adequate dosage of levothyroxine, TSH should be maintained around 3 to 4 mU/L, then all the symptoms are in check. Since there is no mention of current dosage of thyroxine being taken is not mentioned, it is difficult to give any opinion. You should have mentioned the current thyroxine dosage. Thanks.

Sure, why not, no transmissible issues here.
And no, no complications getting blood from somebody taking prescribed thyroxine supplementation.
As you know transfusion medicine doctors are worried about infections which can be transmitted by receiving blood products from someone with e.g. HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C.

Mr. lybrate-user, Hypothyroidism is a hormone deficiency disorder. Hence, the treatment is to supplement the hormone thyroxine in a specified dose for life time. This is the only option or permanent treatment. Thanks.

Mr. lybrate-user, If hypothyroidism is present then taking thyroxine (thyronorm) in adequate dosage is the only option. There is no other permanent treatment. You will have to continue taking that tablet for lifetime. If you have any specific doubts you are welcome to come in a private conversation. Thanks.
