To treat hypothyroidism only available drug is Levothyroxine tablets. Hence, if you have that condition, then it may be necessary to take Thyroxine tablets. But I can only give a proper yes or know based on actual TSH value, BP reading plus some details on the heart condition. Since nothing is mentioned, it is difficult to give any opinion. Thanks.

Levothyroxine tablets have to be taken early morning on empty stomach, then nothing should be taken for at least 1 to 1 and half hours. This is absolutely necessary, for helping proper absorption of thyroxine. Thanks.

Ideally when one is on treatment with adequate dosage of Levothyroxine, TSH is maintained around 3 to 4 mU/L, at which almost all the symptoms are in check.
When TSH goes <0.1 mU/L, the dosage of thyroxine needs to be properly adjusted (reduced, usually by 12.5 to 25 mcg per day). Then TSh needs to be checked after 6 weeks to see if necessary level is maintained. Thanks.

This is a very vital hormone required for a multiple metabolic functions in the body including normal functioning of brain. So we need to supplement it from outside. This has to be done for lifetime. If on treatment then TSH should be maintained between 3 to 4 mU/L to be free fro all the symptoms of hypothyroidism.Since your TSH is 13 mU/L, it shows that hypothyroidism is not controlled at all. This means thyroxine dosage has to increase from the present one. Then after tstarting the increased dose, TSH should be checked after 6 weeks to see if there is necessary change. Thanks

When on treatment ideally TSH should be maintained < 3 mU/L. Hence current dose of 125 mcg is fine. It should be continued. To be free from all the symptoms of hypothyroidism it is essential to maintain TSH < 3 mu/L. Once well stabilised you can check TSH one in 6 months to a year. But do not make frequent changes in Thyroxine dosage. Thanks.
