Hi I have started pep for unprotected sex after 56 hours of exposure. Will it prevent hiv? After taking pep I had regular loose motions and felt weak and nausea. Are these side effects of pep? I am taking kaletra and tenvir.

Yes, it does prevent in most of the cases. Yes, side effects. It is not good idea to use PEP frequently.

I had sex with a call girl. My condom broke inside. I didn't know whether she was hiv positive or not. I took truvada for 28 days and tested hiv rt pcr mrna qualitative. And the result came negative. After 100 days again I tested hiv 1 & 2 antibody, & p24 antigen combo. Again result came negative. Am I safe now?

Your doctor may also wish to order a viral load test now. If an antibody-only test is negative, repeat hiv testing should occur at six weeks, three months, and six months following the exposure since it can take up to six months for your body to make antibodies to the hiv virus.

Respected doctors, I was exposed to hiv 44 days back. I took two pills of truvada (day 2 and day 3) and left. I did PCR RNA test and HIV duo test on 15th day which came negative. As I took two pills of truvada I thought there would be some delay for virus to show up in blood so I was not convinced with 15th day test results. On 28th day I did western blot test which came out negative. On 30th day I developed very bad sore throat, mouth ulcers and red dots on arms and shoulder, nausea and giddiness. On 37th day I gave for PCR DNA test which came out negative. Now my parents are cooperating for HIV duo test after 42 days (6 weeks. I am planning to take test after 2 months only. Am I having hiv? Is there a possibility of having a positive result after having two pcr ,1 hiv duo and western blot test negative?

If all HIV tests negative, nothing to worry about HIV. But, pl. Also get tested for Hepatitis-B. Take Hep-B vaccine. You did wrong by not taking Truvada for longer duration. But anyways, forget it now.
If you are getting unnecessarily tested its madness and called psychiatric disorder termed as HIV-Phobia or Venerophobia.
You do not need testing, but you need Consultation and sittings of counseling.

if Hbe antigen is positive- it usually indicates patient is in infective stage.
U may wait till it settles and then plan.

Itching dizziness and weaknesses are due to jaundice caused by Hepatitis B which is a self limiting illness. Take care of diet and total rest
Ask your doctor if you can stop the medicine
Take lots of water and ORS simple proteins like toned milk and curd coconut water. Cane juice and lots of simple proteins and carbs
