Hello.
Nucleic acid test like dna or rna are not 1st line test for screening. Pl do not waste your money on doing it. Do 4th gen combo antigen and antibody test after your pep is over and the final one at 90 days after exposure. Thnx.

Post-exposure prophylaxis (pep) is a medication that can be taken after a potential exposure to hiv to reduce the risk of infection. The medication is most effective when taken as soon as possible after the exposure, ideally within 72 hours.
The medication you mentioned, "traffic" is a combination of two drugs, tenofovir and emtricitabine, which are commonly used for pep. These medications are generally well-tolerated and can be effective in preventing hiv transmission when taken correctly.

Hello Lybrate User,
Please see about your 3 issues.
Pep- drugs used or not the recommended regimens, as per your info (tdf and raltegravir, generic name). 3 drugs or recommended for effective pep.
The hiv test - done at 3 days after exposure is invalid as even nuclic acid tests can not give valid results before 10 days of hiv infection.
Side effects- could b a possibility.
It would be good if you please consult in pvt an hiv specialist to guide you well before its too late.more
