I think, first you check your tsh and ecg, pounding of heat may not be because of amlodac. Rule out other causes first.

Usually if BP is well controlled with a single drug, then there is no need for additional drugs. But in your case doctor has already recommended Telmisartan, Chlotiazide and a beta blocker, means there is need for these drugs. Since no readings are mentioned, it is difficult to comment. Thanks.

Atenolol is not known to cause any major CNS disturbance. It can at times cause low heart rate in elderly but that is reversible with stopping the medicine. Still if you are so concerned regarding atenolol please discuss with your prescribing doctor about your concerns and ask the doctor for alternative substitutes, they will be able to give you some substitute.

Dear Lybrateuser, - Your mother has to take the medication continuously, the BP has come down because of the medication, if you stop it it will again rise
- take the advise of your treating doctor if any alteration or change in medication is required
- restrict salt & salty foods, avoid fried & processed food
