If your dog is fully vaccinated, nothing to worry about getting rabies, of course the wound has to be taken care of. First thing is always wash the wound thoroughly with soap and water, inj tetanus toxoid, if wound is infected as there is swelling, start tab cepodem 200 twice a day, tab signoflam twice a day. My daughter aged five and half years started to vomit anything she ate or drank from 1st June. On 2nd June my wife took her to a General Physician who prescribed Domstal - 5 DT and Ondem. As she showed no improvements, on 2nd June we took her to other doctor and she was prescribed Zyfix 100 LB, Vomikind MD 4 and advised to orally consume Glucose. She showed no improvement and visited the doctor again who advised to continue the same prescription and additionally prescribed Cypon. She showed some improvement but too tired as she had not eaten a proper food. On 7th June, she got rashes on her left upper arm. We again went to the doctor who prescribed citizen and Globet GM. As the rashes started to spread, on 7th June we went to 3rd doctor know to us who did a CBC and advised cepodem, Ondem, Atarax and calosoft Lotion. Her blood report showed the platelet count as 5.42 lakh/cmm and further advised for an abdomen and pelvis scan. The scan report showed everything normal. As the scan report was normal he advised her to admit to hospital. The same day we admitted her to a hospital recommended by the 3rd doctor. They repeated the blood report and was administered saline by 7 PM. By 9 PM my daughter was active, happily ate the food and has not vomited since that day. She had a good sleep and morning too she ate happily and we felt that she is getting better. However the rashes were still there and the doctor in hospital told that she is fine and blood report is normal and the platelet counts (4.79 lakh/cmm) are coming to normal and Reactive protein was 6.3 mg/dl. The saline was stopped in the morning and was discharged by 4 PM the next day. She was advised to continue Atarax and calosoft Lotion. As the rashes were not coming down, the next day (10th June) we took her to a dermatologist and he advised Allercet and Dapsone. She had not been to school these many days. The rashes had almost disappeared by 13th June and we sent her to school on 14th June. By the time she came home, she had rashes till knee complained pain in knee and calf muscle. We did not send her to school the following day and by evening 15th the rashes reduced and we sent her to school on 16th. Again by evening she had rashes and pain. We decided not to send her to school and watch over her condition on weekend. By 18th evening the rashes reduced significantly and we sent her to school on 19th. Rashes re-appeared by 5 pm when she returned home but no pain this time. Also the intensity of rashes is less when compared to other days. Please advise us on her condition and course of action to be taken.

She is probably suffering from what Dermatologist call urticaria. Common causes are food allergy, infection or drugs taken for some condition. It presents with itching resulting in formation of red rashes which we call hives or wheals. Although in most cases cause remains unknown in spite of a thorough search. It can be symptomatically treated with antihistamines so that you do not get any new hives. The treatment should be prolonged until it resolves which usually takes 1 to 6 months. Please ca...more
