I am suffering from schizophrenia & under psychiatrist treatment for last 12 years. At present I am taking tab Amigold 100 & qutipin 100 at night time only. I think I am suffering from this disease for last 18 years but I didn't consult psychiatrist before. I was very depressed before due to 4 to 5 times failure in final third year B.com exam. But later some how I completed by graduation in B.com. But later I didn't get better job till today at my 42 age I am not having good job & I am not married till today due to not getting proper girl. I want to discontinue psychiatrist medicine. Once before 7 years I stopped taking the medicine & I was very ok for 2 to 3 month but later problem starts again. The problem was that I am not getting proper sleep at night. Due to which I cannot control mind. Many bed thoughts come in my mind. I want to know from you what I should do if I want to stop the psychiatrist treatment. Please guide me in detail. It is possible to stop psychiatrist medicine?

Don't stop medicine without your psychiatrist opinion ,Grossly almost every kind of sleep disorder more or less connected with some or the other psychological problem therefore comes under the domain of psychiatry until associated with obvious disease of CNS. But we strongly advice you to contact homoeopathy to get cured completely rather than going for short term addictive sedative treatment of psychiatry.

Generally speaking, before starting medicines from a psychiatrist, it is advisable to get psycho-diagnostic testing done to determine what is the nature of symptoms- is it psychological –requiring counselling/psychotherapy or does the symptom require medicines from a psychiatrist. HOWEVER, WHEN SYMPTOMS ARE NO LONGER NORMAL OR TOUCHING UPON INSANITY, SEE A PSYCHIATRIST IMMEDIATELY. PSYCHIATRIST IS MBBS PLUS MD IN PSYCHIATRY- HE GIVES MEDICINES ONLY. TREATMENT STARTED EARLIER WILL CONTROL THE P...more

Dear lybrate-user,
Since how long you are taking these medicines? What is the diagnosis? If it is OCD, these medicines are not only right for you, but also you need to take them for a long term with frequent visits to your doctor for dose adjustment. For your confusion and low confidence, you need therapy. Ask your doctor, she/he may add or refer you to a psychologist.

Dear Lybrate-User,
None of the tablets that you have mentioned cause memory problems. But due to ocd itself memory lapses will be there. As you improve with ocd, you will fill your thoughts with things happening around you, so that recent memory improves. Please give an example of emotional connectivity with memories.

I think you need to work with a counselor in tandem with the medication. Schizophrenia with ocd is pretty difficult to handle without some help from a counselor. I hope your visits to the psychiatrist were regular and the medication has been frequently reviewed during these years. You need to be occupied, and fit into a routine of interesting activities every day. Whatever the situation you must be responsible, respectful and functional. Yoga and meditation is also necessary to train your brain ...more

It is compulsory to undergo regular blood test (WBC) when on clozapine. If she does not do, she has to be compelled or the medication, changed. Chance of agranulocytosis is 1% and it is the protocol to do, else no other option, but to change medication. All the best.

Lack of josh or sluggishness maybe due to sedentary lifestyle or due to medications or some underlying depression. If you are overweight then that also can be one of the reasons. Our body naturally releases some feel good substances called endorphins which give us a pleasant feeling. These substances are usually released when we are happy and there is sense of achievement. Physical exercise is the best way to achieve it. Naturally you can improve your mood. Also you can persue a hobby.
