Yes letrozole can be taken for maximum six cycles, thereafter should go for other methods. Whether you can skip letroz or not depends on the state of your ovaries on d2 or 3 of your cycle. Depending on the findings it can be decided.

Usually letrozole is started at 2.5 mg and it is increased if ovulation has not taken place with this dose. So on taking low dose may not cause ovulation. But this can be confirmed only through folliculometry.
