You should trust your doctor and fallow all the instruction given to you. After completing your course of medicine again go for follow up and see the results. Side by side you need to follow diet like avoid table salt, have less spicy food, avoid friend and junk food which contain preservatives like pickles, pap-pad, jam etc. Have less spicy home made food.

Usually if BP is well controlled with a single drug, then there is no need for additional drugs. But in your case doctor has already recommended Telmisartan, Chlotiazide and a beta blocker, means there is need for these drugs. Since no readings are mentioned, it is difficult to comment. Thanks.
