It depends on nature of cough and weight of the baby. If weight of your baby is more than 8 kg and having wet cough and congested chest then it's safe for him.

Not clear whether she has cold, wheezing sound on coughing, bodyache and fever. Watering of nose and reflux acidity causes cough on lying down. She should lie down in a propped up position. Continue same medicine take sips of water regualrly. If no relief case has to be reviewed after 2-3 days.

No you should not.
If you care for the baby then never give medicine like this.
Consult and take proper treatment.
Solvin syrup just hide the symptoms but does not cure it.

1. Do Warm saline gurgling and steam inhalation with karvol plus inhalant capsule 2-3 times daily.
2.put otrivin nasal drop one drop thrice daily.
3.Take Viscodyne D syrup 2 tsf 2-3 times daily
4. If no relief, you have to take antibiotic.

Home remedy for Dry Cough:
5 basil leaves, 4 black pepper, 4 munakka, 5 gms liquorice (mulethi), 3 gms banafsha - boil these in 200 ml of water till it becomes 100 ml. Filter it. Add 2-3 patasha in it and drink lukewarm for 3-4 nights...sleep well covered. Dry cough will be relieved.
Also continue to chew Mulethi. you can also have Steam with vicks

There is no best medicine for cough and cold. You have to change your lifestyle. Eat healthy food. Include fruits in your diet especially citrus fruits like lemon, orange and sweet lemon. Amla with high quantity of vitamin c is beneficial. Avoid cold foods like ice cream. This now being a winter season, wear sweater or jacket outdoors and at night. Several things can be done to prevent cold:
-Always wash your hands after coughing or sneezing into your hands, blowing your nose, after touching someone who is sick, or when using public restrooms or telephones.
-Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough.
