Prothiaden definitely is not the first choice medication for panic disorder, mostly a GP would have prescribed the same. Etilaam is effective for short duration, what you need is a long time solution, so better consult a psychiatrist either in person or online and seek proper medication and therapy for panic disorder. All the best.

Dear Renu,
Citalopram starts its action after 2-3 weeks only. It also acts in a particular dose. Please follow up with your doctor after 2-3 weeks of citalopram. Some persons living with recurrent depressive disorders, may need a mood stabiliser in addition.

You don't seem to have received proper trial of antidepressants. Moreover treatment you received might not be appropriate for your symptoms or their might be some underlying chronic physical illness or psychosocial issues. You better consult other psychiatrist. But be hopeful, if you were to receive ect so that it is the only treatment for you, you must not have written this comment. Take care.

Not at all, I am sure the person who prescribed these is not a psychiatrist. Etizolam is used for short term control or supplement for treatment of anxiety, not primary medication. Ssri or snri are generally given which act on the cause of the anxiety. Good luck.

Dear Mr. lybrate-user, I am assuming that it was not a psychiatrist that you consulted. Having frequent worries, being unable to sleep and feeling restless in your mind are all symptoms that suggest an anxiety disorder which can easily be controlled with the correct treatment. From the medicines you were given, it seems that a psychiatrist had not assessed you. So my suggestion would be a psychiatry consult for the right help. All the best!

Hello lybrate-user tks for your query. Etizolam is usually used as short term measure to decrease anxiety but since you have been taking for a year now you may try decreasing etizolam to half and then gradually stopping it. However if anxiety symptoms return then it requires thorough assessment.
