I am a 26 year old female on anti tb medicines which shall complete 2 months of the course, being isoniazid resistant the doctor prescribed me with rifampicin, levofloxacin, ethambutol and pyrazinamide. The medications were fine for the past month but from few days I am suffering from nausea again. I would like to know how long will these side effects last? Is the treatment working or no? Also after taking rifampicin in the morning I feel as if there is mucus generated coz when I cough I can feel it, what is the reason behind the same?

Need all tests again. Get lft to rule out drug induced hepatitis if tests favours then medicine can be reduced and will need minimum of 6 months.

Hello sir, my age 24 and my weight is approximately 50. I have lung infection tb initially, doctor gave me akt4 after taking it for 2 weeks I developed serious jaundice and after recovery from jaundice I have been given akt3 (there are 2 tablet or capsule, I don't know if it is rifampicin, ethabutelor, isoniazid) to cure it. I want to know how should I take akt3? In prescription there is mentioned one tablet or capsule per day but chemist sellers says that I should take both tablets per day. Please advise how should I take.

follow on with liver function tests again after 5 days
if you arevok once again liver function tests after 10 days.

My father, aged 68, some 6 months back was diagnosed for Spine TB and he started on AKT4 for 2 months, AKT3 for the next month but had to stop due to vision loss and following 3 months was taking Rifampicin and Isoniazid. His vision is almost back with some eye power complaint but since last month he is complaining about arm pain near the shoulder joint. There is a slight muscular swelling possibly which we feel there. I read that Isoniazid can cause these side effects. What could be the reason and if it needs any urgent attention to treatment? FYI. He is taking 40 mg of pyridoxine, his blood work shows mild thrombocytopenia, haemoglobin = 11.4, platelet count=106, ESR has come down to 60, CRP has come down from 67 to 8.4. His back is almost gone.

If you have shoulder pain then the stiffness will develop more that might make the arm to have less improvement which might make you to feel more pain the arm. My weight is 95 kgs. I am 20 years old. studying engineering final year. I live in hostel and I am suffering from spinal cord infection. Everyday I suffer with pain so I can't do exercises. I am taking combutol -400 mg, combutol-800 mg, gindoxime-10 mg, r-cin600, solonex300 tablets. My weight is becoming problem to me. Since I am a engineering student I have to work for projects but even if I do simple work like to lift a mug I can't bend my hip pains a lot. I can't walk and sit for more than 5 minutes. I sweats a lot if I walk for 2 steps also. I am getting too much sweat. Two years back my right hand shoulder hit to wall on that time on wards it is paining and I can't lift small weight also. Please give me food diet, advise to reduce my weight in 6 months.

His vision is almost back with some eye power complaint but he is complaining about arm pain midway from shoulder joint and elbow. I read that Isoniazid can cause these side effects. Also recent blood report shows hemoglobin at 10.9. I read this could be due to Rifampicin. What could be the reason and if it needs any urgent attention to treatment? FYI. He is taking 40 mg of pyridoxine, his blood work shows platelet count=130, ESR 94, CRP has come down from 67 to 8.4, LFT results are normal, His back pain is almost gone. Other symptoms at this moment are slight numbness around feet, constipation and dizziness upon movement. Remarks of Hemogram: RBCs: Mild anisopoikilocytosis. Predominantly macrocytic normochromic with macroovalocytes. WBCs: Mild Leukopenia is present. Platelets: Appear mildly reduced in smear. Macroplatelets are seen. Sugar levels are normal 93/142 Blood pressure is bit low 75/115.

Arm pain is nothing to do with TB drugs. Haematological abnormality can be due to rifampicin, but not alrming to stop drug rifampicin.

I am a 21 years male and I am suffering from Tuberculosis, my eight months medication is over and last month drugs are ongoing. I take rifampicin, isoniazid 600 and combutol 1000 daily and regularly . Since last 3 months I have lost interest in alcohol and whenever I am with my friends and I take 1 or 2 peg of alcohol after half an hour later I start vomiting . My Liver function tests are normal everything is fine with my body but I cannot understand that before taking this medication I often drank 5-6 peg of alcohol but never vomited and now vomiting problem creates a huge embarrassment for me, well since last 3 months I had alcohol for only 3 times and all the three times I have vomited.

Well, it's good that you have limited your alcohol consumption to the minimum. Alcohol and isoniazid do not react well when taken together. Alcohol may increase the risk of liver damage with isoniazid. Those who are on isoniazid are advised to abstain from alcohol as they may have unpleasant side effects. Once the drug is stopped you will not have these symptoms after alcohol consumption.

My father, aged 68, was recently in complete bed rest for the last 3 months and was taking akt 4 ofr first 2 months and then 1 month of akt3 after being diagnosed with Pott's spine. Spine surgeon told us that he is clinically doing really well and his CRP has improved from 67 to 11.2 Recently he is started to have blurred vision so we checked with Eye specialists and they suggested it to be EMB induced optical neuropathy. Its been some 4 weeks now that we have stopped Ethambutol and he has partially regained vision though there is acuity problems still. Now that he is on Rifampicin and Isoniazid, does he need to take some other medicine in place of ethambutol for his TB treatment? Hope stopping Ethambutol will not effect his spinal TB.

After CABG I had pleural effusion on the left side of my chest. All tests including Quanty feron gold test and biopsy on the left inside of the chest showed negative results for TB. Now I am having ankylosing Spondylitis for which biologic injection Scapho is being given. Since my Mantoux test was positive, on the suspicion that I may be having latent TB, I was asked to take R Cinex 300/600 tablets for 4 months. I have taken RCinex for 2 months and thereafter because of stomach trouble I switched over to Isoniazid 300 tablets and took them for 4 months. Is this medication sufficient for the latent TB and can I stop the medication now. In 2002 because of eridocyclitis in the eye on suspicion of having TB I had taken full course of TB medicine ie. AKT4 for 9 months. Please advise. Thanks.

Firstly we should confirm the current status with a fresh Xray chest and Get your blood checked for CBC Esr HLAB27 and follow up with reports for further guidance.
