Antipsychotic medications including Resperidone are prescribed after detailed evaluation & should be continued under supervision of a doctor. It is one of the drugs used to treat Psychosis. I believe your mother is continuing this medicine under regular medical supervision. As she is 72 years old now, she also requires regular check up to rule out other physical illnesses along with mental status evaluation from time to time. The coma like state may be because of some underlying physical illness...more

You are being treated for your ocd but I don't think it is as simple as that. You do have a serious problem otherwise too and must continue it until the doctor says to stop or reduce it. Please take your parents with you to determine the possible developmental issues that may have contributed to this condition. This is a fear-based condition and fo...more

You need to combine medication with therapy to get the maximum benefits of both. Although this is a long term disease, and you will probably remain for long on medication you must still persevere. Schizophrenia is a very complex and difficult disease to treat, even with medication. All psychotropic medicines have side-effects: that is inescapable. But I suspect that you are depending entirely on medication when in reality you need to combine it with counselings or therapy. In therapy you will le...more

If a person is taking risdone plus zapodil for schizophrenia treatment, she can not stop the medicine for life. She can only change the medicine or the dose of medicine depending on the benefit and side effects. If she is taking it for any other illness, please write all the details of it. If she is planning to have a child, let her talk to her doctor.
