If diabetes is in control normally other complications are either delayed or of less severity. Since your problem is long standing one, it may not completely go away. Pregabalin is a good drug to help in this condition. But it equally essential to maintain a strict sugar control to get better relief.

Consult a Physiotherapist with masters in orthopaedics/ musculoskeletal sciences or sports physiotherapy who can evaluate your foot and guide you regarding the cause of pain and treatment for the same.
Self medication with Gabapentin tablet/ gel is not advisable without consult from a certified physician or an Orthopaedic doctor with M.S Orthopaedics / DNB Orthopaedics degree.
