Yes you can buy 50 and take half, but make sure you attend your periodic review with psychiatrist, as serta is not an over the counter medication, but a schedule 'h" drug, which needs constant monitoring. All the best.

Dear Sajish Kumar all people used to have negative thoughts including psychologists and psychiatrists. It is not an illness to eat tablets.!

But need to check if you have any psychological disorder to be treated, either through psychological therapies or with medicines.

But psychological interventions are possible to deal with your negative thoughts with therapies like CBT.
Good that you recognise your negative thoughts which can be corrected.
Bye take care

Dear Samin,
Please let me know why you want to taper down your medications.
Did the doctor told you to do? Or do you feel Okay that you want to stop? Or do you have side effects that are troublesome? Or did any non medical person told that you will get addicted.
Tapering is done in certain diagnosis of depression. In other diagnosis, it will not be tapered. Please discuss with your doctor about diagnosis and tapering.

Dear mam
Serta is a medicine and can be used safely during breast feeding. As far as Lopez is concerned, we need to weigh the risks and benefit. It is secreted in breast milk and can cause drowsiness in baby, so if you do need to take it try to discuss this with your psychiatrist and take the minimum possible dose. Also you can consider breastfeeding feeding just before taking the medication so that it is secreted in minimal amount in your breast milk.
Please do not stop the medicine on ...more

Your psychiatrist would have changed for a reason, you do not meddle with that. Discuss with him/ her, they find the way out.

Serta will help if the thoughts are due to obsession or depression, if the confusion is present am not sure. By the way is the doctor a psychiatrist, if not better consult one. If he is, take as he has suggested and attend review as per his advise. All the best.

My doctor is changing me from sertraline 200 mg to escitalopram 20 mg, because of ongoing side effects on sertraline. This is the cross taper schedule: for 6-7 days: reduce from 200 mg to 150 mg sertraline further 6-7 days: reduce from 150 mg to 100 mg sertraline further 6-7 days: reduce from 100 mg sertraline to 50 mg sertraline and add 5 mg escitalopram further 6-7 days: reduce 50 mg sertraline to 25 mg sertraline, increase escitalopram to 10 mg. To finish: stop sertraline altogether, continue with 20 mg escitalopram. Does this cross taper seem okay? I am trying to reduce the risk of sertraline withdrawal. I also have a fear of vomiting. Is this schedule likely to make me vomit? Or should I avoid most withdrawal? I am on my second week now, so I am now on 100 mg sertraline. What side effects can be expected when going from 150 mg-100 mg sertraline? Thanks for the help and information.

Hi lybrate-user! I understand you are faced with a lot of confusion at the moment. It may be in your best interest to follow the regimen prescribed by your psychiatrist and openly discuss your fear of withdrawal and induction of vomiting with him. The regimen of psychiatric medication is very essential. It maybe helpful to go along with their recommendation. If you see any side effects, complete the dosage as prescribed and then follow up with your doctor. Sometimes side effects come from your b...more
