Both are long acting ics-laba combination drugs. The only difference being that salmeterol (seroflo) acts a little slower than formoterol (maxiflo).

There is no permanent solution unfortunately. Respiratory disease specialist shall be of your best help. Mast cell stabiliser like cromoglycates nasal spray plus fluticasone nasal spray both twice daily at 30 minutes interval, may be of help for you. It may lessen your frequency of attacks. It may have to be continued for a long time. The doctor seeing you may guide you best.

Try to follow asthma medications. As regularly. I think your grandmother suffers posture (position) problem in during lying down. Please know correct approach to maintain good posture.
