Dear lybrate-user,
did you have dry mouth, headache, racing thoughts, jittery and agitation before taking desvenlafaxine or sertraline? Yes, you did have - they are all anxiety symptoms. Instead of googling side effects of the tablets, please google mixed anxiety depressive disorder, adrenaline reaction, stress management, recurrent major depressive disorder, etc. Please consult your doctor so that sertraline dose can be increased to an effective dose.

Deep breathing is another effective way to relieve stress and anxiety. It helps you with physical symptoms such as shallow breathing and rapid heart rate, and it also helps with controlling your thoughts. Hello lybrate-user,
stopping tab. Sertraline suddenly can cause anxiety, headache, dizziness, tiredness, nausea, irritability etc. However we can not be certain that your symptoms were due to medicine withdrawal only. A detailed history and review of current symptoms can help you manage your symptoms.
Please consult your psychiatrist for the same.
You can contact me if you have any further query.

Sometimes, it could also mean that you had some susceptibility to anxiety and the uses of the weed precipitated it. Therefore, it is advisable that you take sertraline and follow your doctor's instruction faithfully. I also recommend that you meet with a counselor and go through some therapy as well. In therapy, you will learn a ...more

Dear lybrate-user, you should not take any medication by yourself. Even anybody should not do this. Different medications have different side effects. Escitalopram is also good for long term. There are some blood tests every one should do who are taking psychotropic medications. My sincere request is please don't take any medication by yourself. Thank you for your question.

Antidepressants though reduce seizure threshold are given in people with seizure disorder having anxiety, depression and ocd. If there is a recent seizure in the past 2 years, they are given under the cover of an anti epileptic, else not. Else it is a safe medicine and you can follow your psychiatrist advise. It will take approx 4 weeks to see the effects though, so be patient. Good luck.

Sertraline can be taken once a day only. Side effects of the medications can be googled. More common side-effects are more acidity, sleep and sexual problems. No medicine is taken for such a long duration. Consult your psychiatrist on regular basis.

75% of patients who have recovered from the 1st episode of depression relapse. It's likely that you are developing depression again. The medicine that has worked for you in the past would definitely work even now. You can restart sertraline. It's advisable that you do that under your psychiatrist's supervision. Do complete the course.
